2. JOB 33:4 THE SPIRIT OF GOD HATH
MADE ME, AND THE BREATH OF THE
ALMIGHTY HATH GIVEN ME LIFE.
• Each person is a creature of God, made by God
• Each person’s body is given life by the breath of the
Almighty
• THEORY: Each conception of a human life can be
considered as the same action of God in taking clay,
then forming him into his image, and breathing into his
nostrils the breath of life and he becomes a living soul.
3. WHEN DOES LIFE BEGIN?
• Human Life does no begin in birth, it begins in
conception.
• The conceived child inside the womb is a human being
able to breathe oxygen delivered through the mother’s
womb.
• The unborn baby exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide
with the mother through the placenta and umbilical cord.
4.
5. THE BREATH OF LIFE BEGINS
IN THE WOMB
• . The mother’s blood circulates through the placenta and
also carries nutrients to the baby. The placenta is
attached to the uterine wall and to the umbilical cord,
which is attached to the baby. The mother, in effect,
breathes for the baby. The mother inhales and breathes
in oxygenated air, which passes through her circulatory
system to the baby through the placenta and umbilical
cord. Carbon dioxide returns from the baby through the
umbilical cord and placenta to the mother, who exhales
and removes the waste from her body.
6.
7. AND MAN BECAME A LIVING SOUL
• Job 31:15 Did not he that made me in the womb make
him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?
• Each person is individually fashioned (designed) by God in
the womb
• Psalms 22:10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou
art my God from my mother's belly.
• The natural processes of procreation is a means by which
God casts (forms) individuals inside the womb.
8. THEORIES OF SOUL ORIGINS -
SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY OF CHARLES HODGE
• Preexistence, as taught by Origen, and as adopted here
and there by some few philosophers and theologians, is
not the Platonic doctrine of an ideal-world.
• It supposes that the souls of men had a separate,
conscious, personal existence in a previous state; that
having sinned in that preexistent state, they are
condemned to be born into this world in a state of sin
and in connection with a material body.
9. THEORIES OF SOUL ORIGINS -
SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY OF CHARLES HODGE
• Traducianism.
• affirm that the soul is produced by the law of generation,
being as truly derived from the parents as the body. The
whole man, soul and body, is begotten. The whole man
is derived from the substance of his progenitors. We
were in Adam, being our first parents, so when Adam
sinned, we sinned with him.
10. THEORIES OF SOUL ORIGINS -
SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY OF CHARLES HODGE
• CREATIONISM –
• In the original account of the creation there is a marked distinction
made between the body and the soul. The one is from the earth, the
other from God. The body and soul are not only represented as
different substances, but also as having different origins. The body
shall return to dust, and the spirit to God who gave it.
• In like manner God is said to form "the spirit of man within him"
(Zech. xii. 1); to give "breath unto the people upon" the earth, "and
spirit to them that walk therein." (Is. xlii. 5.)
• Heb. xii. 9, our human father is the father of our body and God is
Father of our spirit. Our bodies are derived from our earthly parents,
our souls are derived from God.
11. ORIGIN OF THE SOUL OF CHRIST
• Christ came from the womb of Mary, but did not come
from the seed of Joseph. Nevertheless, after conception
of the Holy Ghost, Jesus Christ’s body is a product of all
the human processes.
• The God Man Jesus Christ conceived by the Holy Spirit
and placed in the womb of Mary is the Word made flesh,
the pre-existent Son of God from eternity placed in a
human body.
12. FROM WHERE DID THE SOUL OF EVE
COME FROM?
• She was not formed like Adam,
• she was taken from Adam.
• Did God breathe into her nostrils, after forming her body
from Adam?
• Why was it not specifically mentioned, how she was
created in detail?
13. REVELATIONS AND SECRETS
• Ecclesiastes 11:5 As thou knowest not what is the way
of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of
her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works
of God who maketh all.
• Aside from these revelations, we don’t know the other
details.
