1. Improve Finance Settlement Details
Business Case:
iManage is data warehouse application. The application consists of complex reports
access by 30 users simultaneously. Reports are generating from 'uatimng' database.
Currently database size is 200Gb and expected to grow to 30% a year.
Generation on complex reports on growing data, user has to wait more than a minute. On
growing business, database and application requires to capable to generate report within a
minute. By doing this, it will improve the performance of application & saves users effort
time.
Task and Expertise Needed:
It has been noticed that the average time taking for reporting queries is around 200 secs.
This is causing the performance degradation of reporting and the same has to be
improved with proper database tuning.
Highlights of improvement:

Action: Root Causes, Alternatives, Solution:
1. High data fragmentation on object, Row chaining on Tables & row migrations are
major causes for the low response of queries on the database.
2. As UATIMNG Database is supporting data warehouse application volume of the
data will be high. It cannot be controlled.
3. One of the solution has been identified is Use of OFA architecture to reduce data
fragmentation on the objects.
Highlights of improvement:
1. Better response time of the database
2. Low Wait time achieved for the end users of the applications.
3. Effective utilization of server resources achieved by using OFA architecture.
Improvement Suggested and Result:
Using OFA architecture on database & other operations, the query execution time has
been reduced to 15secs, which resulted in customer satisfaction & in turn lead to
increased business.
