Key list of the projects currently handled -
o Risk Management Information (MI's) –
o MI's are prepared every quarter end to give business an idea of how well ACE Group has
performed in terms of quantifying the risks within the ACE internal business and if there are
any material breaches reported for any of the risk description and the potential mitigation place
to offset the risks.
o Some of the Risk MI’s are listed below –
 Underwriting Risk MI - This MI is prepared to review the UW performance of the
company by collating the information from finance team to derive the GWP, NWP, NEP
9and various other statistics) for a particular quarter. This project highlights if any of the
input to the underwriting has not performed well (like Net Expected Returns, Loss Ratio,
Actual versus Expected)

 Operational Risk MI - This MI is prepared to review the various segment of the business
adhering to operational principle. To prepare this MI, we work with various teams which
majorly includes Claims, Reinsurance, Human Resource, Information Security.
 Credit Risk MI

 Reserve Risk MI
 RAS MI - This MI is prepared to find out key risk appetite statement, which has the high
probability of becoming the huge risk in upcoming 1 year.
o Emerging Risk –
 This project is carried out on a monthly basis and is based on Solvency II requirements
 Work includes to go through the Daily Risk Pulse and find out the potential emerging
risk of the of current economic environment, which can be of significant threat to
company and are entering the European region as well.
 Findings of this project is already published by ACE on their official website in 2015
to further strengthen the business plan for next 2 years.
o Risk Radar –
 Worked on integrating the different risk on Radar which is a platform to highlight the
company’s current risk performance with that of other companies.
o Risk Register –
 Worked on consolidating the ACE various sub risk so as to identify the Impact and
Severity for different Risk Codes (like Underwriting, Claims, Reputational, Financial)
 This project involves identifying various mitigation actions for any material breach and
possible ways to smooth the functions of the company (For mitigation we also consider
the controls suggested by SoX database). From management perspective, this report is
shared with Chief Risk Officers and the Head of Actuarial Department.
 A lot of work involves finding the Gross & Net ratings for different risk so we can
identify which Risk Code requires immediate action. Considered to be one of the
biggest projects from ERM. This also falls under Solvency II pillar 3 (reporting
structure).
o Internal Model Validation -
 Assisting the Capital team to align the Validation exercise for ACE subsidiaries
(AUAL & AEGL). Performing this exercise on regulatory requirement so as to ensure
proper framework for Internal Model to calculate the SCR (on Solvency II principles)
for ACE Group.
 Currently handling much of the Validation exercise in terms of assessing the tests
which needs to be performed for the Capital and Risk side (Including Dependencies,
Data Prep, Capital, Market Risk, Model Output).
 Carried out Documentation and Governance test for 2nd Line Risk Reporting
 Work also includes to challenge the evidences as provided by different component
owners for their respective areas. This exercise is done at the time of Model Run (twice
in a year)
o Model Controls & Expert Judgment (for Internal Model)
 Assisting the Capital & Risk team to ensure whether proper model controls have been
followed before any model run.
 Crucial project for SCR calculation, as any failure of the key control can mislead both 1
year and Ultimate calculation of SCR
 Worked on collating Expert Judgments, which are also made before performing any
model run so as to ensure that we have sufficient explanation for any of the assumption
made in Model Run.
Towers Watson -
 Worked with Towers Watson as a Benefits Intern from Feb 2012 – Oct 2012
 Provide actuarial liabilities for various Indian employee benefit schemes under Accounting
Standard 15 (AS 15 (R)). Major schemes include Gratuity, Privilege Leave and Sick Leave
 Reconcile client data with prior year’s to generate data queries based on discrepancies
 Create final AS 15 (R) reports for clients based on valuation results
 Worked on special projects like Long Term Service Award (LTSA) and Salary
Assumption Analysis
