NMS announces partnership with PILCD
VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – In pursuit of the company’s mission and vision, unified with
its corporate social responsibility, New Media Services (NMS) is privileged to announce
its partnership with People’s Initiative for Learning and Community Development
(PILCD, www.PILCD.org), a Philippine-based, non-profit organization that aims to
contribute in the development and empowerment of marginaliz
ed communities and vulnerable groups through community education and social action.
The partnership will center on PILCD’s Community-based Adult Learning and
Development program by integrating the sport of football as a platform for alternative
learning. The integration of a football training program aims to boost the quality of
learning outcome of the out of school youths, especially in promoting leadership, team
spirit, camaraderie, healthy lifestyle and well-being in a physically and mentally
stimulating platform.
The participants of the football training program will be composed of the students of the
BalikPaaralan (Back to School) for Out of School Youths and Adults (BPOSA). The
program is initially slated to begin on August and will commence for 10 months.
“This is our way of giving back to the community as a company, and to appreciate what
we have,” said NMS CEO Martin Eyking. HR Executive Manager Jennifer Francisco, the
head of the program, also added that this initiative will “not only help the out-of-school
youth participants train them for life skills” but “also help our employees appreciate the
value of life itself.”
The football training will be held once a week, facilitated by a football coach,
interspersed with workshops and activities for reflection and group learning, to be
conducted by select NMS employees. The trainings and matches will be held at
Benguet Sports Complex in Wangal, La Trinidad, Philippines.
