Points of interest The pitch was constructed upon the school’s paddock and was subject to an
involved planning process due to the perceived change of use. In addition, the
grounds & surrounding area were a designated area of natural beauty so
careful remodelling of levels was required to minimise the visual impact of the
new fencing system.

Points of interest The pitch replaced an existing synthetic turf pitch [STP] which was lost due to
the new school build. This replacement pitch was designed to meet the high
quality hockey the College wished to offer whilst offering performance and
durability for football and other sports. The scheme was designed for the
Middlesbrough Council Design Services team as part of the Building Schools
for the Future programme in the city.

Point of Interest The pitch replaced an existing redgra/shale pitch which was used minimally throughout the year due to
its age and performance in inclement weather.
The pitch is located within the centre of the Hamilton Park Racecourse and the design was tailored to
ensure that there was minimal impact on the racecourse and vistas for spectators and cameras.
This replacement pitch was designed to meet the high quality hockey the College wished to offer whilst
offering performance and durability for football and other sports.

Point of Interest Notts Sport originally visited the school in 2005 and have assisted the project team for over 8 years
to completion, all” at risk” via the unique “Design & Advisory Service” securing planning permission
in 2012 for a 2013 delivery.
The School had no “all weather” sports areas and were desperate for a facility of this type to
maximise the ability to deliver sport and recreation as part of the curriculum.
