2. COMMAND
Usage command is an expression to get
something done by other people. Command
has two pattens, they are Verbal command
and Nominal command.
3. VERBAL COMMAND
Verbal command place bare-infinitive at the
beginning of the sentence. SENTENCE+VERB
Examples :
- Stand up!
- Sit down!
- Come here!
- Do it !
- Close the door!
- Write the story!
- Read the novel
- Come back here!
4. NOMINAL COMMAND
Nominal command place “BE” at the beginning
of the sentence and use a non-verb behind it.
SENTENCE+BE+COMPLEMENT
Example :
- Be careful!
- Be quiet!
- Be a good student!
- Be diligent
- Be on time!
- Be smart!
- Be a good teacher!
5. Examples Expressing commands
Dialogue 1
• Teacher : Who can answer my question?
Yes. Raise your hand, please!
• Tony : I am, sir. Let me write down on the board.
• Teacher : Good boy! (to other students). be noisy,
please! Your friend is trying to concentrate. Be
quite!.
6. Dialogue 2 :
• Thalia : Rhutt! Where are you?
• Rhutt : Yeah, Thalia. I’m coming. What’s going
on?
• Thalia : Look! What are you doing with the floor?
It’s very dirty!
• Rhutt : You know, I have made handmade from
the ground.
• Thalia : I don’t want to know. Sweep the floor
before Mummy comes.!
• Rhutt : OK. Never mind.
