I have chosen to study and evaluate Samsung Group for this research. The Samsung Group consists of 28 main subsidiaries that previous year recorded worldwide sales in excess of $54 billion. Its yearly profits represent 10% of Korea’s annual output. To be at power with the major players in the world, it must be equipped to source capital adequately and utilize it efficiently and accordingly. The proficiency of its procedures made Samsung to evolve into country’s foremost issuer of equity and debt to other countries and a trendsetter among Korean businesses in stepping out into world markets. Westhall Capital, will be “the biggest event in technology for the next 10
years” (Foroohad& Lee, 2010, Para. 5).Generally, consumer electronics
manufacturers, like Sony, has safe guarded divisional core functions, as only the
TV guys could produce TV products but it’s not the practice in Samsung. The
Korean multinational supports competition among its four major divisions i.e.
semiconductors, telecommunications, digital media and flat-screen panels driving
them to develop crux of its novel innovations. A recent competition among digital-
camera unit and camcorder team made the development of Duo Cam possible, a
product that share features of both these products.
