2. Why do it?
Karate is a great way to get and stay in
shape. Not only that, but it helps to
develop skill in self-defense! You learn
more about yourself, and help learn skills
used in the outside world, such as
teaching or being taught by people of all
ages.
3. What’s My Story?
I started Karate a little
under six years ago, because
a friend asked if i wanted to
go with her. I soon gained
interest and have loved it
ever since.
4.
5. Story Time!
Karate isn’t about fighting. In fact, a boy in karate
walked behind a horse, and it went to kick him. He
moved swiftly out of the way, and everyone was
impressed, but he was expelled from the dojo. His
sensei told him: “He who is careless enough to walk
behind a horse is a lost cause.”
6. Avoid rather than confront.
Confront rather than injure.
Injure rather than maim.
Maim rather than kill.
7. Basic Rules
-respect the dojo and your fellow karateka
-no running, eating, or chewing gum in the dojo
-don’t speak out of turn
-bow when you have a question
8. Reason why I love karate!
Karate is a great way for me to release my
anger, socialize, learn self control, and
understand my body. It helps me become
humble, and I just feel great there! I am
able to channel my energy and have a goal in
mind always. Plus, it’s tons of fun!
