1. Why Bauer Would Choose To Distribute My Music Magazine By Oli Barlow
2. Bauer Media is a division of the Bauer Media Group, Europe’s largest privately owned publishing Group. The Group is a worldwide media empire offering over 300 magazines in 15 countries, as well as online, TV and radio stations. I feel that this applies to my magazine, as Bauer do not actually have a specialized Hip-Hop magazine. They own Kerrang, which focuses mainly on the ‘Rock’ genre and ‘Q’ which generalises mainstream music. By including my magazine in their production line it would enable them to take a specified route and attract more readers.
3. Bauer Media is a multi-platform UK-based media Group consisting of many companies collected around two main divisions – Magazines and Radio - widely recognised and rewarded as being industry innovators. By distributing my magazine they could then create a ‘RAR Radio’ as the magazine became more popular. The Hip-Hop genre is becoming more widely recognised and I feel that the magazine would really attract readers or listeners to either product.
4. Bauer Media introduced ‘Q Magazine’ in 1986 and since then has become a monthly hot topic among newsstands. I feel that by distributing my product, that after a while it can become a major brand leader. Bauer Media entertainment magazines including; Mojo, Empire, Kerrang and ‘Q’. They also co-own Box TV with channel 4 that includes 7 channels. Box is a top music channel. They also own music channels including 4Music, Magic, Kiss, Kerrang, Smash Hits, Q and The Hits. Through owning so many music channels and magazines I feel that Bauer’s portfolio really has room for a specialized Hip-Hop genre. MTV have a specific channel dedicated to Hip-Hop and R&B and it has worked for them. By Broadening their target market Bauer will have much more attention.
