HET OPRIJVALIESJE: De oprijvalies is uitgevonden door Julien Scheers voor zijn vrouw Eveline. Het is een tweedelig hulmiddel met als doel haar zware elektrische rolstoel over de drempels van verschillende handelszaken uit de omgeving heen te helpen. Voor het plaatsen van het hulpmiddel is Eveline echter altijd aangewezen op hulp van derden (gezin, familie,…vrienden), die het valiesje dan ook met plezier uit de wagen halen. De focus van dit project was om het bestaande oprijvaliesje in een nieuwe ontwerpiteratie te brengen. Volgende eigenschappen werden tijdens het proces van co-creatie als belangrijke elementen naar voor geschoven. Namelijk, het reduceren van het totale volume en gewicht. Het bewaken van de eenvoud in gebruik zowel tijdens het plaatsen als bij het dragen. De mogelijkheid om het product na te bouwen door middel van ‘Do It Yourself’ manufacturing. Bovendien moeten alle materialen voor fabricatie voorhanden zijn uit eenzelfde lokale doe-het-zelf zaak. Het resultaat is een multifunctionele en gebruiksvriendelijke hulp volledig geënt op de wensen van Eveline. Zo is het oprij-hulpstuk voorzien van een ideale hoek van 17°, wat zorgt voor het probleemloos op en afrijden van de helling. Het rubber onderaan de voeten vangt oneffenheden in het wegdek op en zorgt net zoals het antislip voor voldoende weerstand bij het op- en afrijden. Door de reductie van volume en gewicht en het feit dat men de ramp snel kan omvormen tot een handige draagtas, is dit hulpmiddel niet alleen gebruiksvriendelijk voor Eveline maar ook voor haar omgeving.

6. 2 DRILLING Drill the holes as shown in the technical drawings (sheet 3 and sheet 4). Watch out for the different diameters of the holes. Take a special look to the depth (max 8mm) needed to drill the hole with dimension 16. 7. 3 SCREWING part 1 For making the two ramps. Take the drilling machine and a bit. Use the smallest screw for connecting the square plywood with the triangle at the end. For the next hole take the medium sized screws. All the rest of the holes need the biggest screws. When finished, you’ll have two ramps. 8. 4 MANUAL Take the 2 square plywoods which have a big hole at the topmiddle. Put the bolt inside. Next, use your hands to screw the nut until the end of the big hole. At the end you have two identical square plywoods with two bolts and nuts. OPRIJVALIESJE 2.8 none 3min none Bolts and nuts 4 0,40

9. 5 PREPARE THE FLAT ROPE Take the flat rope and cut them with the scissors into two identical halves. One rope should measure 180mm. If you have a plastic rope take the lighter and burn the sides to prevent fry out. OPRIJVALIES 2.8 none 2min Scissors, lighter Flat rope none 2,10

10. 6 SCREWING part 2 Take the flat rope and bring one side through the groove of the square plywood. Next bring the two sides together on the side where the bolt sticks out. Take a washer and the smallest screw and fix everything with the drilling machine to the square plywood. 11. 7 BONDING Cut the rubbers to the dimensions (Sheet 8) so it fits the cutout. Take the epoxy glue and follow the instructions on the packaging. When the glue is prepared make thick strokes with the product on the rubber. Next, fix the 2 rubbers to the ramp. When finished, turn the ramp around so it puts pressure on the rubbers. 12. 8 TAPING part 1 Take the double sided tape and fix it to all the square plywoods. Stay 10mm of the sides, so you don’t overlay the screws. Take of the second paper protecting the tape. Cut the sandpaper and cut one color in strokes of 90mm and the other color in strokes of 60mm. Next, take the waterproof sandpapers and cover the plywoods starting from 10mm of the edge. 13. 9 REDRILL Because you’ve covered the holes with waterproof sandpaper, redrill them with the right drill (M10). OPRIJVALIESJE 2.8 none 1min Drilling machine none none none

14. 10 FIXING THE METAL PLATES Drill holes on the metal plates as described in sheet 6. Next, prepare the epoxy glue as described on the packaging. Stroke the metalplate proportional with epoxyglue. Place the metals on the back of the square plywoods (where the big bolt sticks out). Stay 15mm of the sides and make sure it is fixed as shown on the photograph. 15. 11 FASTENING NONSLIP Cut the nonslip matt into 4 equal pieces. The dimension of one piece is 230x7mm. Fix the double sided tape on the nonslip matt. Next fix it permanently on the plywood and on the metal. At the end you’ll have two plywood squares with partly covered with nonslip matt.
