year with the official inauguration of the Avenue of Sphinxes.
The Avenue which connects Luxor and Karnak temple, is
one of the most important archaeological and religious
routes in Luxor, and where the historical and religious festival
- Opet Festival took place in ancient times. It marked the
annual voyage of God Amun Ra, transferred from Karnak
temple on a sacred boat to Luxor temple, where he visits
his wife Goddess Mut.
