• It was founded in 1947 in the Zika forest of Uganda
• 1968- for the first time from humans in Nigeria
• 2007- was reported on the Island of Yap ( micronesia) where nearly
75% of the population was infected
• 2015 breaks out in Brazil.
• Since october 2015 other countries and territories of the amreicas
have reported the presence of the Virus
5. Transmission of Zika Virus
• Through mosquito bites
• From mother to child. A mother already infected atime of delivery can pass on
the virus to her new born around the time of birth.
• Through sexual contact
