10. OLnet and Collective Intelligence Collective intelligence: augmented functions that enabled by the existence of a community. Collective intelligence emerges through the coexistence of people in the same environment . In OLnet we aim to develop a software infrastructure that exploits the collective action and interaction of a community of users online in an “ intelligent way”; that is to say: obtaining effects and reaching goals that exceed single users and community capability and intentions.
In this first talk I am going to focus on the research aspects of working with Open Resources – first in OpenLearn where I led the Research and Evaluation strand of work and now in further research in OLnet – the Open Learning network.
In OLnet we are harnessing the interest of people across the world in a common area to identify research issues and then apply our “collective intelligence” by sharing ideas and evidence supported by tools (such as Compendium, Cohere and Cloudworks).
