• Traditional network architectures could not
keep up with bandwidth demands in the DC
• Operational complexity of “box-‐‑‒centric”
deployment
• Inspired by server and storage scale out,
employed three principles to redesign DCN
– Clos Technologies
– Merchant Silicon
– Centralized Control
