• Steps to view Earned Value in MS Project
– Set Baseline
– Set Status Date
– Preconfigured Tables
– Generate Earned Value Over Time Report
Assuming all work packages, resources, and resource usage has been input into MS Project

6. Set Baseline
• MS Project uses the Baseline as the basis for the
Planned Value (PV) calculation
• In the Project View, Set a Baseline for the project.

8. Set Status Date
• A snapshot in time of current project performance.
• In MS Project, set the status date to the desired date to
review project progress.
Due to nature of Earned Value Calculation, the status date will affect displayed data

9. Preconfigured Tables
• MS Project has 3 preconfigured views for
reviewing Earned Value in table format.
– Earned Value
• PV (BCWS), EV (BCWP), AC (ACWP), SV, CV,
EAC, BAC, VAC
– Earned Value Cost Indicators
• CV%, CPI, TCIP
– Earned Value Schedule Indicators
• SV%, SPI
Each individual table can be further customized.

• In the Project View, select Visual Reports, then Earned Value Over Time
