Since recreational marijuana use has become legalized in several U.S. states, including Alaska,
Colorado, and Washington, more and more expectant mothers are reportedly becoming addicted.
On "Fox and Friends" this morning, Dr. Marc Siegel explained the dangers to the mother and unborn
child.
"This is a huge problem and it's not political, it's medical," Siegel said. "The

better get off pot now,' which is probably wise, they can go through withdrawal. They can have a
problem with insomnia, they can have a problem with abdominal pain, they can have a problem with
irritability, and cold sweats. They could end up in the emergency room. That's of course a problem

Siegel also said that if a pregnant woman doesn't stop smoking marijuana, then it will have a direct
impact on the fetus.
"It could affect brain development," he said. "Two studies out last year from Austria and Sweden

Siegel stated as the child grows up, he or she could have problems with their behavior and
judgment.
