2. What Is a Music Campaign?
•A music campaign is a website, an album and a
music video, all in order to promote an
artist/band or their new product.
3. Why I chose Camila Cabello
• I have chosen to look at Camila Cabello because she has recently
become incredibly successful within the music industry. She holds the
record for the longest time at number 1 in the charts by any female
artist and within 11 months of her solo career she had won herself 18
awards- clearly she was a hit!
• Her debut album 'Camila' was released on January 12th 2018 on
billboard top 200.
4. Genre
• She is a pop singer with R&B influences, we can tell this through her
website. The first page on her website is mainly very feminine colours
such as blue, pink and purple- this is a classic technical genre
convention for pop artist in order to make their music recognisable
and attractive to their target audience.
5. Her website gives us plenty
of information about her, as
well as letting us listen to
her new music for free.
She makes it very easy for us to
buy tickets to her tour, as well as
giving the option of VIP, this
would encourage her fans to use
her website to buy tickets as
opposed to other sellers, because
it is easy to understand and
clearly legitimate.
6. Target audience
• Her target audience is quite a range, probably from around 15-40.
This is because her songs are very popular and are constantly being
played over the radio and thus, she is popular with many different age
groups. Her songs do feature some mature topics but nothing
particularly taboo. I would say that her website connotes that her
target audience is more female, this is because of the classic genre
conventions such a colour. Her website features a lot of pink
(stereotyped as a female colour).
7. • She is very close with her fans and makes a real effort to
meet them and talk to them, which only widens her fan base
as it makes her appear much more attractive. Also because
she is very active on social media. I think it makes it clearer
that her target audience is people who are also on many
different social media platforms and can see her.

8. USP
• Cabello definitely has a USP- I would say that it is her
departure from the girl band Fifth Harmony- proved that she
can make it on her own. She has elements of Hip-Hop in her
music, making it very attractive to an older audience (20's) as
well as her Cuban roots inspiring her song 'Havana'. This
makes her stand out from the pop scene as songs can get very
repetitive and she has been changing it up. Although she is
clearly a pop artist, she has been featured on other artists
songs in genres such as EDM (Major Lazer 'Know no better')
and Trap (Migos 'OMG'). This differentiates her from other
artists as she is not pigeon holed into a specific genre and she
can change her image depending on the song.
9.
10. Her album, website and music video all link together as
they are all promoting her new album 'Camila' as well as
showing different sides of Camila in order to promote her.
11. Similarities across her music video, album and
website: Her music video for Havana features
elements of pink, similar shades to the
colour that is her single cover. Her
website also features lots of pink- the
colour connotes femininity, romance
and charm. Which would definitely link
to Camila’s star image (Dyer’s star
theory).
12. Camila Her album cover also features shades of
pink, and orange. Which makes her music
video for Havana, her website and album
clearly link together. They are all part of her
music campaign and all play a part in her
star image
Her single cover
and her album
cover both feature
the same font,
both in the same
colour (salmon).
Again, these
similarities link the
two products.
13. Camila’s Ideology • The ideology of Camila is about immigration and
cultural acceptance. She was born in Cuba and
immigrated when she was 7, with her mother. Her
family was very strong and fought for what they
wanted. She preaches that we should be much
more accepting of other cultures, and welcome
them into our own; especially because America
was "built on immigrants". She was very hard
working as she came to America for a better future,
and she says that you should follow your dreams-
because she did.
