2. initial Poster
For the film Warm Bodies the first step of the marketing
campaign was the release of the first official film poster.
The film is based of the book of the same name, this
made the title instantly recognisable for fans and readers
of the book. the poster gives away very little about films
plot, besides a love interest between the 2 characters, to
those who have not read or heard about the books
storyline. This initial poster also doesnt give many details
about the film's release, showing no confirmed release
date.
3. second poster + plot release
a few months after the initial trailer a second poster was released,
this poster had a different, more unique style than the first, with
fewer details aboutthe films cast and more of a focus on the film
itself.this poster involved a sort tagline ‘Cold Body Warm Heart’
giving a little more about the films concept. and showed a full
body shot of the lead actor revealing more about his character
than the first poster.
“After a zombie becomes involved with the girlfriend of one of his
victims, their romance sets in motion a sequence of events that
might transform the lifeless world”
along with the second poster a breif overview of the films plot was
released giving away the genres of the film ‘zombie’ & ‘Romance’
4. First trailer
Before the first trailers release extra videos were released showing behind the
scenes clips of the zombie make up routine allowing the audience to see what
was happening during the film's production.
The film's first official trailer was released shortly after revealing more about the
film's story, characters and overall feel. the
trailer uses the classic conventions, creating a
small narrative through uses of imagery and
a monologue by a main character. this shows
the audience more about the film that posters
could not properly highlight such as the
comedic aspects.
5. second trailer
a second, shorter trailers release showing similar scenes
from the first trailer, but showcased more of the action and
zombie genres of the film through
the trailers fast pacing a use of
montage .
6. new posters release
5 new posters were released for the film each
with their own comedic tagline. each poster
showed different characters and content however all
followed the same style, red background,
white text, this connects all the posters
together and with previous posters making
them seem all part of the same campaign.
7. first 4 minutes + film scenes
instead of releasing a third movie trailer for the film the first 4 minutes of the film
were released online. this help to further establish the audience for when the
film was actually released. this allowed people to get a feel for the films
comedic style and direction, also it would help generate further hype from fans
who are excited to see more of the film and what
happens next.
along with the first four minutes other short
scenes from the film were released with the same
intention to create a hype.
8. final propoganda posters
the final posters for the film were released a couple
of days before the film's release these posters
followed a similar style yet were different in their
content. these trailers were stylised more like the
film itself.
9. The Premier
the final event in the films release campaign was its
premiere, this i9s the first night the film is released in a
particular country, the premiere was celebrated with red
carpet events in countries such as the UK, Japan and the
US. fans are able to win tickets to the
premier and see the cast which generates
hype for the film.
