2. WHAT IS PROPAGANDA?
Propaganda is designed to persuade it’s intended audience to think
and behave in a certain manner.
It’s purpose is to influence and manipulate the audience emotion,
behave and attitudes.
It is the manipulation of information to influence public opinion.
It uses a number of different techniques, such as emphasizing bits
information.
3. NEGATIVE OF PROPAGANDA
Many people associate propaganda in a
negative way because it was used in a powerful
way in the wartime.
The countries who were at war used radio,
newspapers, posters and other media to get
people to join the army. For example Uncle
Sam, a representation of America, encouraging
people to join the army.
4. POSITIVE OF PROPAGANDA
However this propaganda can be used
in a positive way, it can be used the
selective presentation of information to
reach the public with the goal of
promoting health ,safety and other issues
that the public would be interested by.
Even during the wartime there were
helpful posters to warn the public.
5. PROPAGANDA EXAMPLES
Name calling-Trash-talking another product or person, "mudslinging", "ad hominem
attacks"
Testimonial -A famous person recommends a product; also political endorsements
Plain Folks-Appealing to regular people's values like family, patriotism
Bandwagon-An appeal to be part of a group.
Card-stacking- Manipulating information to make a product appear better than it is often
by unfair conparison or omitting facts.
Transfer-A appeal which helps a person to image themselves as part of a picture.
