3. Introduction-
Victorian period is the period of queen victoria’s reign, from
1837, until her death in 1900. This era was the time of political
reform, social change, industrial revolution and scientific
discovery happened. It was an age of idealism and
materialism, this is the age of morality, hypocrasy, an age of
faith and doubt, an age of prosperity and poverty, an age of
splendor and squalor and many more…
Victorian Novelists-
The novels of the victorian age based on complexities and
social evils of the era. The novelists of the victorian age
started the realist art movement.

4. They started to represent the reality of
english society by their everyday
experiances in real life. Realism
became the characteristic of the
victorian novels.
Realism- “Realism is a manner and
method of composition by which the
author describes normal, average life
in a accurate, truthful way.”
Naturalism- “Naturalism is a manner
and method of composition by which
the author portrays “life as it is” in
accordance with the philosophic
theory of determinism.”

5. There were many famous victorian novelist,
and here I describe 5 great victorian
novelists, that should be on everyday’s
reading list.
1.Thomas Hardy-
Thomas Hardy, was a son of stonemason,
he was born on 2 june, 1840. Died on 11
january 1928. He began his writing career
as a novelist. His most famous novels “Tess
of the D’urbervills” and “Jude the
Obscure” considered as literary classics
today. Then he left fiction writing because
he received nagative reviews, and started
poetry and published eight collections.

6. Charles Dickens-
He was born on 7 february 1812 and died on 9 june
1870. Charles John Huffam Divkens was a writer,
social critic. He created some of the best known
fictional characters and he is regarded as the
greatest novelists of victorian era.
His last words were “on the ground” in response to his
sister in law georgina’s request that he lie down.

The Bronte Sisters-
Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte wrote seven
novels between them. Anne is described as
the “Least talented” of the three, but all of
their work is worth to reading. Emily was the
seconf eldest of the three bronte sisters,
younger one was charlotte bronte, elder than
Anne Bronte.

7. H.G.wells-
Herbert George wells was born in working class family
in kent England. He earned his bachrlor of science
and doctor of science degrees at the university of
london. His famous works are “The time
machine(1895)”, “The island of dr moreau(1896)”, “The
invisible man(1897)”, and “The war of the
worlds(1898)”. Wells and jules are reffered him as “The
father of science fiction.”
wikie Collins-
wikie collins was a close friend of charles Dickens,
wikie collins was best known and best paid for victirian
fiction writers. He was born in marylebone, london in
1824, in 1848, a year, after the death of his father,
published his first book “The memories of the life of
william collins”.

8. Conclusion-
The list of novels and novelists of victorian age is very long, we
can conclude that it was the most poverful medium of
expression of the victorian age. And also the writinhmg of the
minor victorian novelist represented the condition of the society
of that era. So we couldn’t ignored the contribution of certan
minor novelists.
