As chapter 23 ends we will explore the final woe of judgment pronounced by Jesus upon Israel’s religious leaders. Hypocritically the Scribes and Pharisees believed that if the Old Testament prophets had spoken in their time, they would have gladly received their words. Jesus concludes his woe by weeping over the city of Jerusalem because their rejection of him has ensured their coming judgment. Not all hope is lost the Savior promises there will be a day when the nation returns to their Messiah and declares, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
