About the Product - Harmony
The name Harmony means ‘the combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce
a pleasing effect.’ Harmony is a social networking company that has been inspired by the apps,
Facebook, Snapchat and Musical.ly by which I have included key features which resulted in the
creation of my own content where the user is able to look at other people’s stories (inspired by
Snapchat), Connect with their friends and have an organised layout (inspired by Facebook) and
express their creativity through music (inspired by Musical.ly) Mainly the content of Harmony is to
allow the entertainment of different daily hashtag challenges, songs and videos to provide a
sense of enlightenment enjoyment in social interaction.
The social networking site has a key unique selling point (USP) where the user is able to
connect and collaborate with their friends through music and dance which is accessible for all
users within the social networking community.
With the help of using Dafont.com, I chose the font style ‘Musicals’ as the flow of the lettering is
bold and eye-catching and in relation to the colour scheme I decided to have a contrast between
red and black as the red enhanced the black writing and title. Although, the synergy of the social
site to promote social interaction in new and personal ways, mainly for this website music is the
key focus as it can be expressed in different ways like singing and dancing along with the new
features of filter, slow-mo, stickers and animation would therefore engage my target audience of
both genders and all ages, as this social site has no boundaries.

Copyright
With the issue on Copyright and in particular the social media website, the key point of
Copyright; especially linked to music it is important that the songs undergo the process of
Copyright to prevent future problems for the social network.
What does musical copyright have to do with music publishing?
A designation of intellectual property similar to a patient or trademark. When the original
composition has then been fixed in a medium by which can then be reproduced, the
composer is granted exclusive rights if the piece of music includes the right to; reproduce
the song, distribute the song, perform the song and create derivative works
Every recorded piece of music has two different copyrights:
The composition itself; The type where the songs of a particular composition are owned
by the artist/ writer.
The sound recording: A specific version where the copyright belongs to the label/
recording artist
Although the idea of exploitation is in this case not a bad situation as in the musical industry,
copyright must be practiced in a variety of ways.
https://diymusician.cdbaby.com/musician-tips/what-is-a-musical-copyright/
Legal and Ethical Issues
In relation to musicians copyright is a protection of both songs and records which includes
the melody and lyrics; with the idea of the a “fix” requirement, meaning that there is no
protection for the song that may be “fix” written down, recorded or saved onto a hard drive.
However, playing the song live does not meet the “fixed” requirement but when you record a
live performance you have not “fixed” the song.
Music Publishing
A business of exploiting a song, cover, film, video games and ringtones are usually in the
form of a license fee. Mainly songwriters own the copyright in the music and lyrics to what
they write earn money; although the ‘publishing income’ does not come from the ownership
of copyright, it comes from the ownership of the copyrights in the songs.
Record Label
A record label, or recording company, is to manufacture, distribute, market, promote and sell
an artist’s music. ‘Recording agreements are often 50 to 80 pages long and contain complex
language and terms that are not only difficult to understand but can significantly impact the
artist’s rights, obligations, and compensation’

Advertisement of my new social communication app which would be
aimed towards the social demographic of all ages and both genders, the
production of the social app would cost a lot of money as of the needed
necessities such as; Adobe CC Software like, Adobe Media EnCoder,
Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator etc.
In addition, the budgeting of the social network would be expensive as
of the production and international selling through other apps such as
App Store or Play Store; which leads onto the availability of the app to
the aimed consumers.
The revenue would also be quite high as of the number of employees
and teams working on the social app; for instance, Writers, Coders and
Designers.
Revenue (continued)

App Cost by App Type
When designing an app, the features on the page are important in the driving cost and a key
element of the social app can result in a new experience, this can vary depending on the
size of the element. The more options there are, the more customizations available although
the costing would be higher than the original pricing.
App Costs for No Network - Standalone Type
Apps within this scenario can normally function without the need for internet connection;
these are known as the term ‘Standalone’ apps; where app need no internet connection in
order to function. Examples such as Calculators, Clocks, Notes and Settings are
‘standalone’ apps, by which in production cost less than $50,000.
Apps with Costs for Data Consumption ONLY - Data Consumption
Some app function properly with a need for internet connection; therefore, some app
consume data, although they do not need any login to work for instance; Weather, Safari,
Google Maps or any social media network.
These can cost production $50,000 to $100,000.
Revenue (continued)
https://savvyapps.com/blog/app-development-costs
Apps Cost for User Login - User Authentication
The most expensive, ranging from $100,000-$300,000 as the app is more complex as they
include the interaction of data, sync across different devices and collaborative feature
(interaction/ invites to family members). App like these are like Google Drive, Bible App and
ESPN.
Cost of Social Networking Apps - Social Networking, Dating and “Matching”
Many of the popular apps these days are normally driven by social features, where users
interaction with each other and their data, e.g. Text, Video or Photo. Examples such as
Tinder, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Snapchat and Whatsapp. These kinds would cost
$150,000-$300,000

In relation to my social media site ‘Harmony’, my hand drawn drafts and graphic layouts
include the idea of a terms and conditions near the base, by which creating an account
means that the user agrees with requirements and rules of the social site.
Privacy Policy
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privacy_policy
A statement or legal document that discloses some or all the ways of party gathers, users,
discloses and manages a customer or client’s data. It fulfills a legal requirement to protect a
customer or client’s privacy.
In addition, my social media site would also have an agreement to a privacy policy as to the
agreement to the terms and conditions of creating a profile.
The need for the privacy policy is to result in the responsibility that the user is responsible
for the content they create and the content they post: for any social media website, it is a
legal requirement for the user and for their content.
Conclusion
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privacy_policy
In conclusion, the research and analysis on my own social media product has helped me
understand as to why there are some needed properties such as the revenue and the
production plan of the social network.
- About the product: A understanding on the purpose of the social media site which
includes a breakdown of key points; e.g. Target Audience, Synergy and Unique
Selling Point.
- Website Functionality: If I were to actually create the website, the key features need
for the site would need to have a connection and have an ideal flow.
- Production Plan: The process breakdown as to how long the production would occur
to produce the final product, consisting of the different elements and points throughout
the week.
- Revenue: Evaluation of the cost within the department of the production and the
average pricing for the necessities.
- Terms & Conditions: Understanding the circumstances and responsibility for their
actions based on the content they present to a viewer.
- Privacy Policy: Legal agreement to the personal responsibility and protection of
themselves.

About the Product - Harmony The name Harmony means ‘the combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce a pleasing effect.’ Harmony is a social networking company that has been inspired by the apps, Facebook, Snapchat and Musical.ly by which I have included key features which resulted in the creation of my own content where the user is able to look at other people’s stories (inspired by Snapchat), Connect with their friends and have an organised layout (inspired by Facebook) and express their creativity through music (inspired by Musical.ly) Mainly the content of Harmony is to allow the entertainment of different daily hashtag challenges, songs and videos to provide a sense of enlightenment enjoyment in social interaction. The social networking site has a key unique selling point (USP) where the user is able to connect and collaborate with their friends through music and dance which is accessible for all users within the social networking community. With the help of using Dafont.com, I chose the font style ‘Musicals’ as the flow of the lettering is bold and eye-catching and in relation to the colour scheme I decided to have a contrast between red and black as the red enhanced the black writing and title. Although, the synergy of the social site to promote social interaction in new and personal ways, mainly for this website music is the key focus as it can be expressed in different ways like singing and dancing along with the new features of filter, slow-mo, stickers and animation would therefore engage my target audience of both genders and all ages, as this social site has no boundaries.

  • 12. Copyright With the issue on Copyright and in particular the social media website, the key point of Copyright; especially linked to music it is important that the songs undergo the process of Copyright to prevent future problems for the social network. What does musical copyright have to do with music publishing? A designation of intellectual property similar to a patient or trademark. When the original composition has then been fixed in a medium by which can then be reproduced, the composer is granted exclusive rights if the piece of music includes the right to; reproduce the song, distribute the song, perform the song and create derivative works Every recorded piece of music has two different copyrights: The composition itself; The type where the songs of a particular composition are owned by the artist/ writer. The sound recording: A specific version where the copyright belongs to the label/ recording artist Although the idea of exploitation is in this case not a bad situation as in the musical industry, copyright must be practiced in a variety of ways. https://diymusician.cdbaby.com/musician-tips/what-is-a-musical-copyright/
  • 13. Legal and Ethical Issues In relation to musicians copyright is a protection of both songs and records which includes the melody and lyrics; with the idea of the a “fix” requirement, meaning that there is no protection for the song that may be “fix” written down, recorded or saved onto a hard drive. However, playing the song live does not meet the “fixed” requirement but when you record a live performance you have not “fixed” the song. Music Publishing A business of exploiting a song, cover, film, video games and ringtones are usually in the form of a license fee. Mainly songwriters own the copyright in the music and lyrics to what they write earn money; although the ‘publishing income’ does not come from the ownership of copyright, it comes from the ownership of the copyrights in the songs. Record Label A record label, or recording company, is to manufacture, distribute, market, promote and sell an artist’s music. ‘Recording agreements are often 50 to 80 pages long and contain complex language and terms that are not only difficult to understand but can significantly impact the artist’s rights, obligations, and compensation’ https://law-arts.org/pdf/Legal_Issues_in_the_Music_Industry.pdf
