11. A Bit About the Software
‣ VIVO was first developed at Cornell in 2003, but in 2009,
the VIVO Collaboration received a multi-million dollar two-year
grant from the National Institutes of Health to further develop
the open source software.
‣ There is a large group of dedicated programmers working to
make VIVO and a searchable network of VIVO installations
(VIVOweb) available for all.
‣ Data is stored as RDF triples and will be available for
consumption by any party essentially without precondition.
