3. The United Nations (1)
• The United Nations (UN) is an international
organization whose stated aims are:
– facilitating cooperation in international law
– international security
– economic development
– social progress
– human rights, and
– achievement of world peace

4. The United Nations (2)
• The UN was founded in 1945 after World War II
to replace the League of Nations, to stop wars
between countries, and to provide a platform
for dialogue. It contains multiple subsidiary
organizations to carry out its missions.
• There are currently 193 member states,
including every internationally recognised
sovereign state in the world but the Vatican City.

6. What has the UN achieved?
• According to Wikipedia there are some 23 wars
taking place in the world right now
• There has not been any time when the world
has been at peace during the existence of the
UN
• It is estimated that as many as 6 million people
may have died in the Vietnam War alone
(1955-1975)

9. God’s assessment
“From whence come wars and fightings among
you? come they not hence, even of your lusts
that war in your members? Ye lust, and have
not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot
obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not,
because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not,

12. Delivering the UN Charter
“And he shall judge among the nations, and
shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat
their swords into plowshares, and their spears
into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up
sword against nation, neither shall they learn
war any more.”

13. God’s own son
“When they therefore were come together, they asked of
him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the
kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you
to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath
put in his own power.
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld,
he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their
sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as
he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white

16. When will this be?
“Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles,
until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. And
there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon,
and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of

roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for
looking after those things which are coming on the
earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

17. Follow three simple steps:
• Study your Bible, for it is God’s Word
• Understand what God requires of us
• Take action whilst you can, don’t put it
off! (Believe, repent and be baptised)
Then
• Live in the only true hope of peace ― the
coming of God’s Kingdom
