Slides from a presentation I gave at the Teachers of French Association "Stage a la Plage" in March, 2006 at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle. It's interesting to reflect o what I would now consider "show and tell" with technology!

- Have always had computers. Dad likes toys. Commodore Colt from Kmart when very young. Typewriter - sense of power - year 2 I could already type, and didn’t need the teacher’s aide to type for me. - Our students know what an animation is. They play video games, they SMS each other, the chat online… or do they?
- Amazon.co.uk knows me too well - used to sell vacuum cleaners, and this is the one I’d definitely buy if I had the money! Responsible Consumers, knowledgeable consumers.
- To what extent is this the case? Using computers as a ‘reward’ like telling kids they can use a pen if they’re really really really good… then again, in the ‘olden days’, how exciting it must have been to have a ball point!
- School policy often against using HPs at school Educational value? Putting homework in them Controlling Powerpoint -> use of proximity Sending SMS to so7 and getting a reply SMS pals Phone talk!
