amount of time needed to engage in
networking and implement an effective online
strategy, but there is a solution...
The Digital Youth Academy (DYA) has created
a Social Digital Apprenticeship, which connects
the skills of our youths to those of
our businesses who want to benefit from social
media within their marketing strategy.
What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are vocational training
programmes, designed to meet the needs
of employers, which lead to a nationally
recognised qualification. Apprentices are
employed directly by the employer and receive
all normal employee benefits.

Born Digital
The Course
The Social Digital Apprenticeship runs for
a minimum of 12 months, and includes:
	 Level 2 Diploma in IT User Skills
	 Social Networking for Business
	 Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths and 	
English and Level 2 in ICT
	 Employee Rights and Responsibilities
Teaching is based around 64 relevant
business tasks and assignments, mainly
completed online and supported by an
assessor, these include:

	 Social Media Tools for Business
	 Creating Content
	 Mobile Technology and Apps
	 Risks of Social Media
	 Email Newsletters
	 IT Systems and Security
	 Branding and Image
	 Creating a Blog
	 Search Engine Optimisation
	 Customer Relationship Management

The Apprenticeship meets the needs of any
business that uses, or wants to use social media
or digital marketing to grow their business. A
Social Digital Apprentice will work with you to
grow your brand, expand your customer base,
innovate your processes, engage with your
potential and existing clients and listen to your
market place and what others are saying.
A Social Digital Apprentice will be based in the
workplace, attending college for approximately
12 days per year. Course work, in the form of
work-based tasks, is completed via e-learning
and e-portfolio. An assigned assessor will
maintain regular contact through site visits and
conduct a formal review every 10 to 12 weeks.
