2. What is Outlook Data file (.pst) ?
PST (Personal folder file) is an Outlook data file that store
users information for POP3 , IMAP and web based mail
account including all mail folders and the items within the
folders, such as emails, email attachments, to do items and
appointments, contacts and more.
Location of Outlook Data file !!
Outlook Data Files (.pst) created by using Outlook 2010 are
saved on your computer in the
"C:UsersuserAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook" If you are
running Windows XP, these files are created in the
"C:UsersusernameAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook"
Windows 7 and Windows Vista:-
"C:UsersadminAppDataRoamingMicrosoftOutlook"
3. How to Open Outlook
Data file without using an Email
Account ?
4. Windows 7: Click on
"Start" button and select
Control Panel
5. Know a new window open at your screen click on "Mail" (32-
bit)
7. Enter a "name for
your new profile" in
"Profile Name box"
and click "Add"
8. You'll be shown an "Add New Account dialogue box".
Click "Cancel"
9. Now a message pop-up you want to create a profile with
no e-mail account, click on "Ok" button. New profile
name will appear in the list
10. Select the "Prompt for a
profile to be used option",
so that the Outlook will
offer you a choice of
profiles when you start it.
And click Ok
11. Now Start Outlook
You should see a choose profile box, select no-account
(or the name you choose for your non-account
profile) from the list and then click on "Ok" button.
12. A start wizard dialogue box should appear, click "Next"
to start wizard.
13. When you see the question would you like to configure
an E-mail account? Click on "No" button
14. The wizard will confirm that you have chosen not to
configure an email account. Tick the box labeled
Continue with no e-mail support and Click "Finish".
