• Why?
• The EPL-1.0 is very close to the Common Public License;
• Essentially 16 years old.
• A lot of the motivation was to reflect the norms and
expectations of an industry that has changed a lot in that
time.
• Major changes between EPL-1.0 and EPL-2.0
• Broadened to refer to “content” (to include icons, gifs,
documents,… )
• Removed references to New York State law;
• Included a definition for “Modified Works”
• Included a definition for “Derivative Works”; and
• The license now includes an option to add a secondary
license for GPL-2.0+ compatibility.
