French born American, Philippe François Nault started painting at age ten, while pursuing classic studies at the nine-century-old school of Cathedral Notre-Dame, in Paris. He soon left the academic environment to begin painting full time, learning instead from older artists, and studying the history of art, ancient cultures and mythologies. He developed a particular enthusiasm for large-scale projects in architectural and public spaces, a passion that never left him. After Paris, London, and New Orleans, he now lives in Hawaii with his wife Gloria, nurturing a personal relationship with the remote nature of the islands and contemporary indigenous thought.
