  1. 1. How to Write Free Verse Poetry written by: Phillip A Ellis Free verse poetry is one of the easiest poems to write. It is free from normal poetry, based on the dos and don'ts. It does not require any set of pattern or rhyme to write. There are no limits to line lengths in free poems. Free verse poetry is certainly one of the most enjoyable poems to write. Since no rules apply in writing, a poet makes the rules for individual poems. An ideal free verse poem should have rhythm with a regular or irregular beat.
