Free verse poetry is one of the easiest poems to write. It is free from
normal poetry, based on the dos and don'ts. It does not require any set of
pattern or rhyme to write. There are no limits to line lengths in free poems.
Free verse poetry is certainly one of the most
enjoyable poems to write. Since no rules apply in
writing, a poet makes the rules for individual
poems. An ideal free verse poem should have
rhythm with a regular or irregular beat. The words
should be carefully chosen into complete verses.

A poet chooses when and how to end a line. The message of the poem
determines the length of words in a line as well as the length of the poem.
The subject has to rhyme with natural poetic voice. Such voice is loaded
with lyrics, accents, metrics and pauses just like in classical poetry. A poet

describe an object, person, and feeling or merely tell a story. Titles can be
of different moods, funny, sad, sorrowful or educational. The poet is free

capture pictures. Once armed with a title and language, a poet can write
down all he has about the subject. A poet can chose to put related words

One should go through the writings
to check if anything is missing. If the
poem needs a line or a stanza, the
poet should at it. Missing
metaphors, phrases or similes can
also be added. One should ensure
that the selected words give an
appealing accent to the poem. The
lines and words should flow in a
rhythmic manner. Reading it loud
ensures satisfaction of the message
and the shape of the poem.

A poet is free to break the poem
into stanzas. Two or more lines can
make up a stanza. Breaks can be at
new thoughts or at mid-sentences
in order to attract more attention
from the reader. Punctuations can
be used to put emphasis on a few
words. However, punctuations are
not mandatory. Use of colorful and
