The Linked Data Working Group is responsible for building and maintaining a recommended version of an
ifcOWL ontology as an equivalent to the IFC EXPRESS schema. The ifcOWL ontology is to be used in linked
data and semantic web applications that consume IFC data.

Nowadays, the digital transformation is affecting any task, activity, process that is done in any organization or even in our daily life activities. The edu-cation sector, considered as one of the leading sectors in terms of innovation through technology, is also facing a transformation in which digital technol-ogy is rapidly evolving. In this context, the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) phenomenon has gained a lot of attraction due to the capability of reaching thousands or even millions of students from all over the world. However, the activities related to MOOCs are not yet being evaluated or quantified as a driver of change. Since the creation of MOOCs requires sup-port and institutional commitment to deliver high-quality courses on tech-nology-based platforms, it seems reasonable to measure the degree of inno-vation in education through the definition of an indicator that collects the commitment of an institution or a person to this new environment of digital education. That is why, in this paper, authors present the definition of a novel indicator and several potential metrics to represent and quantify the degree of innovation in education in universities. Furthermore, a case study is conducted to evaluate 3 different metrics on 36 European universities in the context of the edX and Coursera platforms.

A talk by Sebastian Herold & Dr. Arif Wider at TDWI 2018 Munich. Abstract: More and more companies migrate their monolithic applications to a microservices architecture. However, maintaining a consistent and usable data landscape has only become more challenging by this: huge amounts of structured and unstructured data, and hundreds of data sources. Furthermore, data-driven product development multiplies the analytics requirements: every product team needs constantly updated and specially tailored metrics which often combine product specific data with company wide data. Having a centralized data team does not scale in this setting as it becomes the bottleneck between data producers and data consumers. We created a Manifesto based on five general themes which break with traditional separation of roles and show a path how to deal with distributed data in a federal and scalable fashion. This leads to DataDev: a culture shift similar to DevOps in which application developers own their data and take over responsibilities for data & analytics. Fraunhofer and SINTEF jointed Industrial Data Space Association in early 2016. Industrial Data Space stands for safer data exchange between companies where the producer of data remains the owner of the data and maintains sovereignty over the use of that data. IDS Association aims to define the conditions and governance for a reference architecture and interfaces aiming at international standards. This standard is actively developed and updated on the basis of use cases. It forms the basis for a number of certified software solutions and business models, the development of which is fostered by the association. Thorsten Huelsmann and Ernst H. Kristiansen talked on this topic during the German-Norwegian Dialogue on Bilateral and European Cooperation , September 29 2016 at Berlin.

Session 4 - A practical journey on how to use the DataBench Toolbox

The purpose of this paper is to study and analyse the changes in logistics technologies concerning Industry 4.0. The paper discusses the effect logistics 4.0 innovations have on Intellectual Property (IP) management. Logistics 4.0 has marked a new era and introduced a novel concept to both industry and service communities. New entrepreneurial ideas based on different technologies are introduced which enables the digital transformation of logistics. This transformation also impacts innovation and various IP processes and its management. The approach used in this paper is exploratory in nature. The case study methodology is followed. This paper will discuss various examples of digital applications. Then a case will be selected for the analysis and categorization of innovation and IP. The categorization will take place based on different logistics 4.0 definitions as well as with concepts related to the types of innovation provided by the Oslo Manual and the IP management implications that are generated. This study has a limitation concerning the empirical part. More empirical research and studies should be conducted concerning logistics 4.0, innovation and IP management context. The findings of the case study will act as a guiding path for the upcoming studies, senior officials, policymakers, managers, and business leaders. The paper provides a holistic background of logistics and the revolution of Logistic 4.0. It also discusses the impact it has on innovation and IP management. The results show some important elements that have to be considered in the digital transformation of logistics 4.0. The paper can be used as a base for future research in specific issues related to Innovation and IP management concerning Logistic 4.0.

Architectural design projects are characterised by a high level of complexity. This level of complexity may be attributed to the high number of constraints that apply to architectural design projects. Along with planning, energy performance and fire safety regulations, current designers have to face constraining factors related to budget, acoustics, orientation, wind turbulence, accessibility for the disabled, and so forth. It thus appears that all sorts of restrictions and regulations steer the design process implicitly and explicitly in certain directions as soon as architectural designers aim at satisfying design briefs. In this research, we aim at analysing the impact of parameters and constraints on the design process. We wish to investigate how designers in practice deal with parameters and constraints. How do they interpret incoming parameters or constraints? Are constraints considered to be limitative (constraining), or are they key reference points in a variety of parametric possibilities? Are constraints omnipresent during the design process or are they considered only until they have been 'resolved'? To make an analysis of the role of constraints and parameters in the design process, we have studied four design sessions in a particular design use case, which will be presented briefly in this paper. In each of these design sessions, the design was not only re-evaluated, but it was also redirected in response to certain constraints that were not met (yet). In analysing these four sessions, we used linkography as a method, because this appeared to be one of the better options to obtain a more quantitative assessment of the design process. The linkography method was combined with an interview of the student design team, in order to check the correctness of our conclusions.

Conversational interaction is central to architectural design practice. New information and communication technologies (ICT) change the designer’s traditional way of communicating and interacting. In this paper we investigate how communication in the design process might be supported using ICT. With this aim, we study a text-based Skype conversation between a design teacher and a design student. We consider this conversation as part of an architectural design process and analyse it using linkography. From the linkograph analysis, specific features are identified that apply specifically to text-based Skype interactions. We conclude that online text-based Skype interaction can be one of the many possible interactions by means of communication media (sketching, conversation, modelling, and so forth) during the design process, and provides a distinct set of characteristics that might be considered by the designer.

In the early stages, Alan Turing contributed to the field by defining intelligence as the ability of a being to respond to certain questions intelligently, proposing what is now known as the Turing Test to evaluate the presence of intelligent behavior in machines. As the decades progressed, AI evolved significantly. The 1980s focused on machine learning, teaching computers to learn from data, leading to the development of models that could improve their performance based on their experiences. The 1990s and 2000s saw further advances in algorithms and computational power, which allowed for more sophisticated data analysis techniques, including data mining. By the 2010s, the proliferation of big data and the refinement of deep learning techniques enabled AI to become mainstream. Notable milestones included the success of Google's AlphaGo and advancements in autonomous vehicles by companies like Tesla and Waymo.
