Having a Nanny for your children is valuable, and keeping them working for you requires a few easy
By Patrick Peltier
things. So be sure to do what is needed to hold on to your Nanny.
April 16, 2013
1. Pay your nanny on time as per the agreed terms; Chances are they rely on this money.
2. Be specific about the Nanny's responsibilities or duties and don’t change things without discussing them in detail first.
3. Return home on time and call ahead if you are going to be late; Being late will cut into your Nanny's 'down-time' and
will affect their performance.
4. Give the Nanny plenty of notice when you change your childcare arrangements or if the children start school, how their
role will change or end.
5. Offer positive feedback and constructive criticism; You always want things to improve, but use tack and consideration
here.
6. Do not be passive aggressive with problems. Communicate openly with the Nanny to resolve any issues. Refer to
previous point when doing this.
7. Avoid comparing your Nanny to other's Nannies or a previous one you may have had; This Nanny is unique, and will
definitely do some things differently. Focus on their end results only.
8. Don’t feel insecure if your children bonded with the Nanny; This bonding is normal and isn't something to be
concerned with. Again, focus on end results.
I hope you have learned something from these 8 valuable tips, and that I have made a positive difference for you. Until next
time,
Patrick
