3. SUPPORTING PROJECTS
SDI4Apps finished this year and it was an EU-funded project
managed by the University of West Bohemia from the Czech
Republic. The project is being implemented with the
concerted effort of 18 organizations across Europe. SDI4Apps
seeks to build a cloud-based framework with open API for
data integration focusing on the development of six pilot
applications. The project draws along the lines of INSPIRE,
Copernicus and GEOSS and aspires to build a WIN-WIN
strategy for building a successful business for hundreds of
SMEs on the basis of European spatial data infrastructures.

• Madagascar regions of 4th administrative level (according to OSM classification, roughly
corresponding to European NUTS3 regions) downloaded from
https://data.humdata.org/dataset/madagascar-admin-level-1-boundaries
• African regions of 4th or 3rd administrative level downloaded from OpenStreetMap
• Land Use data downloaded from OpenStreetMap

• PostgreSQL for storing the data
• Mapserver for data visualization

6. PROJECT IDEA AND RESULTS
• The aim was to do a research of available datasets
and to create the open land use map of Africa
• The results were partially reached. There is an
available visualization of up-to-date result available
at: https://goo.gl/tc3T9Y
• However the results as it can be seen:
https://goo.gl/hN1S9u are much less detailed as in
case of Europe
