3. Acts8:9-21
V9 Now for some time a man named Simon had
practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the
people of Samaria. He boasted that he was
someone great,
V10 and all the people, both high and low, gave
him their attention and exclaimed, "This man is
the divine power known as the Great Power.“
V11 They followed him because he had amazed
them for a long time with his magic.(NIV)
4. V12 But when they believed Philip as he
preached the good news of the kingdom of God
and the name of Jesus Christ, they were
baptized, both men and women.
V13 Simon himself believed and was baptized.
And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished
by the great signs and miracles he saw.
V14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that
Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent
Peter and John to them.
V15 When they arrived, they prayed for them that
5. V16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet
come upon any of them; they had simply
been baptized into the name of the Lord
Jesus.
V17 Then Peter and John placed their hands
on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
V18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was
given at the laying on of the apostles' hands,
he offered them money(NIV)
6. V19 and said, "Give me also this ability so
that everyone on whom I lay my hands may
receive the Holy Spirit.“
V20 Peter answered: "May your money
perish with you, because you thought you
could buy the gift of God with money!
V21 You have no part or share in this
ministry, because your heart is not right
before God.(NIV)
7. HOW CAN WE AMAZE THE HOLY SPIRIT IN OUR LIFE?
1.IT is AMAZING when you have a life led by the Holy
Spirit.
Galatians 5:16-18
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the
desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires
what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is
contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each
other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are
led by the Spirit, you are not under law.(NIV)
A.As he guides us through his words not by human power
or ability.
People follow Simon because of his power of magic.
Acts 8:11
8. B.As he strengthen us when he dwells in
our life.
Ephesians 2:22
And in him you too are being built together to
become a dwelling in which God lives by his
Spirit.(NIV)
1 Corinthians 3:16
Do you not know that you are the temple of God
and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?(NKJV)

Peter said, "Change your life. Turn to God and be
baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ,

Simon thought he could buy the Holy Spirit!
Acts 8:18-19
When Simon saw that the apostles by merely
laying on hands conferred the Spirit, he pulled out
his money, excited, and said, "Sell me your secret!
Show me how you did that! How much do you
want? Name your price!"(MSG)
10. But being AMAZED is only for
those…..
A. Who become sons of God
Galatians 4:6
And because we are his children, God has sent
the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting
us to call out, "Abba, Father."(NLT)
Romans 8:16
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that

Those who live according to the sinful
nature have their minds set on what that
