Acids
I. Introduction
Acids are compounds containing the H+ ion. Like any other compounds, they
produce different characteristics unique on their own. As young scientists, your job is
to find the different characteristics of these compounds by doing the experiment
below.
II. Materials
1. Vinegar
2. Test Tube
3. Styrofoam Cup/Beaker
4. Spatula
III. Procedure
1. Approximately pour a tea spoon of vinegar into a test tube. Make
observations about the physical properties of acids using the table below.
2. After keenly observing the properties of acids, pour a small piece of baking
powder into the test tube. Note what happens.
III. Results
1. Fill in the table below with the observed physical properties of the vinegar.
