2011-12.Conducted 1st RAHALA in our district as Chairman. Attended many annual
conference and district level Meetings and at International 100th Conference at
Birmingham, UK. his happiest movement was holding the national flag at Route March
at Birmingham convention and served as Sergeant –at-arms.

Joined State Bank of Mysore in 1964 as cashier clerk and retired as Senior Manager in 2001. Passion
for Kannada from college days. Responsible in implementing kannada in SBM. Heading kannada
Department at Head Office of SBM. One day hunger strike during GOKAK chaluvali. Implementing
Kannada in Rotary club also.
Trade Union : Union Leader from college Days. In Bank, also headed many posts as EC member.
Now Retired bank Officers' Mysore district General secretary.
Hobbies: Reading and travelling-trekking. Trekk to Kailasa and Manasa sarovar in 1986 and
many treks at Karnataka.Travelled extensively in India. Visited Europe countries, UK and USA
and Dubai.

President's Message
My Dear Rotarians,
Last week we had Mr.Praveen Krupakar as speaker. He spoke about good & bad about Cinema. I hope you
all enjoyed it.
We had a Career Orientation for more than 1000 Students of Government College, Kuvempunagar. I
immensely thank Rtn. PP.M.S.Raghu for conducting the programme. As you all know we are having Special
Olympics- BANDHAVYA-2012 on 5th February Sunday. Chairman Rtn. Azeezulla & Co-Chairman Rtn.
Vishwanath under the able guidance of senior member Rtn. P.P.Balakrishnan are doing excellent
arrangements. I request you all to support them to make the event successful.
Next week we are having District Governor's official visit to our club. Vice President Rtn.Bhanu Chandran
has chalked out the whole days programme. I request all of you to be there whole day with us to make the day memorable.
Today let us participate in the Club Assembly to be conducted by our AG Rtn. Aa.Cha. Ashok Kumar.

4. Rotary clubs worldwide meet US$
200 million fundraising challenge
Rtn. Amarlal K. Rotary International has succeeded in meeting the Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation's US$200 million match in funding for
4-02-2012 polio eradication, raising more than $202.6 million as of 17

“We'll celebrate this milestone, but it doesn't mean that we'll
stop raising money or spreading the word about polio
eradication,” Rotary Foundation Trustee John F. Germ told Rotary
leaders at the International Assembly in San Diego, California,

free.”
The fundraising milestone was reached in response to $355
million in challenge grants awarded to The Rotary Foundation by
the Gates Foundation. All funds have been earmarked to support
polio immunization activities in affected countries where the

“In recognition of Rotary's great work, and to inspire
Rotarians in the future, the [Gates] foundation is committing an
additional $50 million to extend our partnership,” said Jeff
Raikes, chief executive officer of the Gates Foundation. “Rotary
started the global fight against polio, and continues to set the
tone for private fundraising, grassroots engagement, and

The new $50 million grant from the Gates Foundation is not

imported from the endemic countries. In Africa in 2011, Chad

which had been polio-free for a decade, was traced to Pakistan.
Rotary club members not only reached into their own
pockets to support the Gates challenge, but also engaged their
communities in a variety of creative fundraising projects, such as
a fashion show in California that raised $52,000, benefit film
screenings in New Zealand and Australia that netted $54,000,
and a pledge-supported hike through Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, that
brought in $38,000. Many events were planned around 24
October, widely observed as World Polio Day.
To date, Rotarians worldwide have contributed more than
$1 billion toward the eradication of polio, a cause Rotary took on
