Contribution tothe FieldofEducation:
v Ms. L. Savitha is presently the principal of the Kautilya
Vidyalaya Institutions and has been greatly instrumental and can take a
large chunk of the credit for bringing it to its present stature. This
institution saw its inception about eight years ago, ie. in 2005-06 and in just
a matter of a few years it has seen a phenomenal growth. It now houses
courses ranging from Montessori and CBSE (Classes one to ten) to Pre-
university and Degree courses and also a Teacher Education Course. This
has primarily been possible due to her vision and endeavour. The
Institutionhas alsostartedanothercampusinVijayanagar.
v Ms. Savitha is a researcher, a voracious reader, one who never
tires of experimenting, one who is mentally agile, believes in the
importance of life skills in everyday survival and a person who tries to
imbibe the best from everywhere and this is the reason why the level of
academics is so high at this institution. It is because of her motivation,
belief in providing the very best to students and her futuristic vision that
new programmes & practices like an R&D Cell, an online Math Club and
the introduction of Smart Classes (the very first institution in Mysore to do
so) and student exchange programmes through British Council have been
initiated. The 100% results of SSLC and CBSE speak volumes of its
academicstandards.
v Ms. Savitha has been a sports person all her life, a basketball
player who reached the National Level and made the Nation proud through
her victory. She has also lived in a sports hostel which has given her an
insight into the importance of sports not only in physical but also mental
health and also the advantages of being disciplined, organized and
systematic. Therefore she has roped in an American Group called 'Jump
Bunch' which understands the needs of every child and thereby will bring
out the maximum in each one.The development of life skills is of optimum
use and Ms. Savitha's background in psychology and counseling has
helped many sort out their personal issues and see things from a more
optimisticpointofview.
v She was also been an NCC cadet and has therefore developed
immensedisciplinewhichshe would likeherstudentstoimbibe.
v Ms. Savitha has a vast experience and has
taught students right from the Nursery section right
through to the Post Graduate level and has also

Dear friends, you remember we had started a
campaign to voluntarily optout of LPG subsidyand take
part in Nation Building Initiative. This simple initiative
has found a mention in Governor's Monthly letter-
September issue by the District Editor Rtn. Srikant
Kolathaya. It has been reproduced in this issue. This
recognition gives me impetus to take forward this
project and I urge all the Rotarians to take this small
step. Here is an updated list of Midtown's scroll of
honor.

· And this month, we will mark
World Polio Day on 24 October, and
celebrate the 100th anniversary of
Dr. Salk's birth. I ask you all to Light
Up Rotary this month by doing
whatever you can to shine a spotlight
on our efforts to eradicate polio. When we eradicate
polio – and we will – we'll have brought the world into
a better future, and Rotary into a better future as well.
We will have proved ourselves, as an organization,
capable of great things. And we will have given our
children and grandchildren a gift that will endure
forever: a polio-free world.
