2. A) Saving Water
Water is a scarce commodity.
At present, tens of water tankers are purchased each
month, adding hundreds of rupees to owners’
maintenance cost. Owners should use water judiciously -
the following measures will help:
3. A 1. Adjustable Flush
The sophisticated design shown in the photograph allows
you to set the flush volume finely.
Turning the knob anticlockwise opens (outputs more
water) while clockwise closes (outputs less water). We
hope that you will use the least possible water for
flushing, found by trial and error.

5. The kitchen sink has a plug that has two positions -
i) An “OFF” position which lets water drain,
simultaneously filtering particles so that the drain does
not clog, and
ii) An “ON” position that seals the drain and traps water.
Use OFF when washing vegetables, etc and ON to rinse
vessels after applying detergent.

10. B) Heatproof to save electricity
Reducing the heat that radiates into the
house reduces room temperature. This
naturally reduces the need to use an AC.
Install green-net curtains (used in nurseries)
on balconies and windows.
13. C) Mosquito proofing
The apartment should be mosquito proofed using nets. If
not, the residents will be exposed to disease, or at the
least, discomfort.
At times, apartments without netting are forced to use
the Air Conditioning in pleasant weather - because of
having to slide the windows shut to keep mosquitoes
out!
