L&T has a long history and presence across India. Their CSR strategy focuses on health, education, environment, and disaster response. They take a 3 P approach - principles, processes, and projects. For a new contract in Odisha, they propose a new initiative called "UttHaan" targeting tribal communities. Over 3 years, they will invest 15 crores in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and environment focusing on issues those communities face like lack of access, awareness, and facilities. The initiative aims to overall develop the tribal community through a multi-pronged approach.

21. CSR New Model – 4 P’s
• The new model of is called “enlightened”
marketing model. It consist of the new 4P’s
namely the Probe, People, Proposition and
Postulation.
• The new enlightened 4P’s can be summed up
in one straightforward statement:
1.Probe ,
2.People,
3.Propose, and
4.Postulate.
22. Probe
• While going across “Business Standard” of 7th
August 2013, we found that L&T has recently
got a 3000 crores contract for construction of
178 mega lift irrigation projects in Tel River
Basin by Odisha government.
• The areas covered under the project are
mainly remote backward and tribal areas of
the state.
23.
24. People
We found that although most towns in this area had all modern amenities
but the tribal in the same area do not even have access to the most basic
amenities. The Major problems faced by them are:
•
Lack of education and awareness:
People here do not even know what education is. They live in jungles,
unaware to any outside knowledge including food and cloths.
• Lack of healthcare facilities:
The people here suffer from many problems like child mortality, maternal
mortality, and a number of diseases like malaria, typhoid, dysentery,
cholera etc.
• Lack of Infrastructure and Exposure:
Lack of transportation and other facilities like electricity, proper
infrastructure etc. makes them isolated from the outer world.
• Stakeholders, Employees and the Company are benefitted.
25. Propose
We propose an initiative “UTTHAAN” wherein
development of deprived sections of population has always been
given a top priority.
The targeted area is Keonjhar, Bolangir and Kalahandi Districts of
the state, lying on the bank of the river.
27. POSTULATE
• CSR is the brand value of a company.
• Benefits Of CSR
In Human Resources
In Risk Management
Brand Differentiation
License to operate
•
•
•
•
Implementation of program over a period of 3 years.
Main focus- Upliftment of tribal in the targeted area.
Outcome- Overall development of the tribal community
2 way learning – “win-win” situation.
28. “UTTHAAN”
• More than 70 per cent of the ST population is concentrated in Madhya
Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and
Gujarat.
• Communities are primitive traits, geographical isolation, distinctive culture,
shyness of contact with communities at large and backwardness
• Panchsheel, Tribal Development Blocks(25000)
• Tribal Sub-Plan-It is basically an area development programs with focus on
tribal under which infrastructural development and family-oriented programs
are undertaken.
• Construction of hostels and coaching of students for competitive
examinations, up gradation of their merit, research and training, setting up of
ashram schools, vocational training centers, village grain banks, educational
complexes for ST girls in low literacy pockets and development of primitive
tribal groups.
• Besides, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have also been involved in
the development.

At the time of recruitment the recruits/potential candidates ask about the CSR initiatives and policies which helps them gauge the level of commitment and work the company does to give back to society. This helps improve their way of thinking about the organization. It is the same among the staff.Risk management plays an important strategic role in an organization. The reputation of a company can be ruined in seconds on account of an environmental accident or corruption. Risk Management builds a culture of – “doing the right thing” within the corporation that helps decrease these risks.CSR plays a role on building customer loyalty based on ethical values.( Body Shop)Taxation and regulations that helps in minimizing the risk of accident and other issues and promotes CSR activities( 2% of salary for CSR).
