3. Laminar flow ventilation is used in modern orthopaedic
operating theatres to reduce the number of infective organisms
present in the air, which may lead to post-operative infection of
the wound. This is of particular significance in joint prosthesis
surgery (such as knee replacement and hip replacement
surgery), where deep-seated post-operative infection may result
in poor patient outcomes and substantial costs, both to patients
and healthcare providers.

14. An isolation room is a specially constructed area in a hospital designed for
housing patients with an infectious disease in order to prevent the spread
of the disease in the hospital. Unlike a clean room, which is designed to
isolate the outside from the patient, the isolation room is designed to

23. How does it work?
Ultra clean laminar airflow is directed directly over the surgical site and
instruments, acting as a barrier and minimizing the presence of bacteria-
carrying particles at the wound.
An easy to use control system helps the user direct airflow in the most
effective way: The airflow direction and the correct distance from the
surgical site will gives you maximum effect.
Ambient air is passed through a medical grade ULPA filtration (99.99%
efficient to .12 microns) filter combined with the germicidal disinfection
power of UVGI lamp. The ultra- clean air leaves the perforated screen as
a laminar (turbulence-free) flow, pushing contaminated air forwards away
from the risk zone and into the room, to be absorbed by the conventional
ventilation system.
