3. After years of struggling to
remain relevant, the 2014
Consumer Electronics Show
(CES) was one of the most
exciting in recent memory
thanks to new tech trends like
4k TVs, wearables, and enough
advancements in car
technology that many dubbed
the event a de-facto auto show.
4. Without question, navigation is truly one of the most dynamic spaces in tech: Just a few years ago, the concept of smartphone-
based navigation seemed the stuff of sci-fi novels. Now everyone, from Google, Apple, to budget conscious drivers are hedging
their bets on new technologies designed to improve the travel experience.
As we leave CES in our rearview mirror and zoom into 2014 at full speed, many of the most interesting innovations at the show
will revolutionize navigation. As we embark on this new journey, here are four leading innovations that I feel will have a colossal
impact on how we find our way:
5. Smartphone and Tablet Integration Will Make Built-In Navigation Systems
Obsolete
As smartphones continue to take a more centralized role in people’s lives, we’ll
see them take over more and more elements of cars systems, including in-car
GPS. Jaguar Land Rover just introduced its InControl App Platform at CES,
which lets drivers run apps through their car’s touchscreen.
