Descriptive Essay On Dystopia
Dystopian Setting
The city that once had homed thousands and been the most economically successful country ever,
was now a contaminated wasteland. The land looked dry, destroyed and lonely. The morning
breeze felt like crying sorrows, and the grey deceitful sky awed down at us. In the deepest corner of
despair lies dystopia where hope dies. As someone looks through the eyes of the devil, they see his
utopia. Only visible by the dim light of the moon was the great wall. Beyond the wall? No one knew.
Stretching away from the wall was a humongous bridge that towered the wall. Standing tall on the
bridge was a tower, which had two circles that almost looked like eyes. Those mysterious, creepy
and dangerous looking eyes stared down at the city giving away a haunting look.
The reek of death hangs in the air throughout the land. Filling the mouths of those who lived in this
abandoned land was the taste of burnt garlic. The screams and cries of terror undistinguishable
between beast and human fill the ears of the last ones living. The sky, which was lit by the glow of
fires, is grey and empty. Decaying bodies and...show more content...
As I walked, the air of this haunted, dreadful and sorrowful land had sucked the life out of
everything and roared as humanity began to disappear. As I carried on walking, I noticed that the
small fraction of light was getting smaller and smaller, until it had been engulfed into a think
black ash like smoke. Aggressively, the wind walked past the building with its cruddy feeling,
blowing away all signs of life. Deeper and deeper into the land was a burning car door. The fire
roared and crackled. The roaring and crackling of the burning car door merged with the aggressive
air and created the loudest sounds ever heard on land. Growing darker, the skies made me feel
nauseous. The fear of not waking up if a human fell asleep towered

Descriptive Experience Essay
Filled with excitement and joy I began to fill my suitcase, overloading with clothing that I most
likely will not wear. A I finish my exaggerated packing I heard a thumping sound of knocks at the
front door. I hurriedly squish everything and make my way to the door only to be greeted by Ely's
joyful expression. Once we manage to pack our things in the trunk we head off to the airport.
Once at the airport were greeted with our growling tummies ready to devour. We have fifteen
minutes before our flight leaves, we quickly rush and get in line to the subway station. When
ordering I could see all the available sets of nutritional vegetables. The scent of sweet coffee filled
my nostrils from the Starbucks station next to the subway. Once are meals our set we quickly
stuff our hungry faces and hear a loud announcement that our flight was to depart in 10 minutes.
When seated I tried to manage my tangles hair and off we were to our vacation in Honduras.
Once, we reached the end of our flight we were met with the difficulty of finding our bags, once
we did we excitedly made our way to the exit. As soon as we stepped outside the scent of good
cooked meted melted in our minds. Immediately our attention zoomed into the busy streets
overcrowding with people. It was midday around one in the afternoon, the weather was gracious,
solemn breeze swept my hair back. First thing we do is head off to the nearest restaurant in our
reach. Lavishing the cultural dishes my

Ocean Descriptive Essay
I stand at the edge where two worlds collide. The oceans exude power and confindence yet its are
the connector to everyone. Here at the ocean, your peace can be found in the middle of this chaotic
world. This is where people can lose themselves in the beauty, tranquility and the uncontrollable
power of the ocean.
I stand on the edge looking forward the ocean seems endless. Some people believe at the horizon
there is nothing just a place where the moon, star and the sun hide until they shall return.
Scrunching my toes into the damp sand from the high tide. The sand is like rough sandpaper on
my bare feet. Whispers of the warm sea breeze as it skips over the lulling waves. The breeze
carries the salty aroma that swirls in my nose leaving a feeling of tranquility and safety. Listening
to the thundering raspy echo's of the waves as they churn crumbling into whitewash chaos
deafening my ears to whatever else is around me. The squawking of the protectors of the ocean as
they circle above, master of catching the upward sea breeze drafts. Watching the waves draw in a
breath of air and sighing deeply gradually crawling along each grain of sand stretching itself out thin
to reach my feet. The ocean breathes in again as the thin layer of water returns into the depths of the
unknown.
The sun slowly simmers down into the horizon. The ocean reflecting a amber orange painting on its
mesmerizing turquoise canvas. The warmth of the air is replaced by chills. The light salt–water laps

Descriptive Essay : ' The Ghost ' Essay
Just then, I noticed a ghost in the distance who was simply staring blankly at the landscape. As I
came alongside, the ghost was simply staring at the Spirit; I received the impression that the
conversation would soon begin again. Continuing to stare at the spirit, the ghost spoke, "See now,
Elphias, this is simply the same discussion we started back in high school. There is nothing new
about it and you always thought that there were black and whites. You still haven't changed your
mind I see." The spirit smiled and replied, "Yes, it is the same discussion, but I am happy, if you
join me, you too can receive this happiness. All that you have to see is that there are absolutes."
"But there are no absolutes. We've been over this before. What is good and true for you may not
be good and true for me. Your rigidness has not lessened with time. You always failed to embrace
the gray; that whole idea of black and white was simply wishful thinking." "Was it truly wishful
thinking though? Where you came from, is that not the black and am I not white with the
Glory?" The ghost gave a disbelieving chuckle and attempted as best he could a patronizing
smile. "It may appear black and white to you because of what you believe, but as for me, I can
hardly stand to look at you. How do I know it you are really white?" Where did you just come
from? Is not perpetually twilight and rainy? What emotions arise in you in that place?" "Different

to become accustomed to it. It is Five O' Clock in the afternoon. The sun is starting to drag itself
lower, dimming the landscape, leaving a majestic orange on the horizon. The towering structures
above leave enormous shadows on the people below. Car horns ring and sirens pulse, as the
people make haste towards there destinations, rushing aggressively as if though it is a race. The
end of the work day has just began. The craze is unique from anywhere else. An endless flow of

Lush, green trees are everywhere. Every house and small business seems to have one or two of

up until they reach the charcoal shingles of the rooftop. Two enormous windows are on the front
of the house, with fine, white curtains that can be seen hanging from them on the other side. On
the left side of a house there is a large chimney, which gives the house a traditional look with it's
brown and red bricks. In the front yard of the house there is a smooth, clean concrete walkway to
the front door, surrounded by many bushes, and flowers; trimmed perfectly. This house is well
kept, and it stands out as a beauty in the neighborhood. The man walks up his paved walkway, and
into the house through a large white door, with four small windows on it, and a cross like pattern

Examples Of A Descriptive Essay On A Room
Contrastive Paragraphs Essay Assingment My dorm room is a rectangular room with beds on
the opposite sides. On one side there is room for two closets with long mirrors that are used as
doors. Between the two beds on the side opposite the closets are two desks that are covered with
papers, water bottles, notebooks and pens. In the midde of the room sits a black flimsy square
card table, covered with a stack of dirty plates and a binder. There are posters hung up around the
room, a women's division three national championships poster, a periodic table, an american flag,
and various photos of friends and family. The walls and ceiling are white and the floor is carpeted,
with a matrix of various grey rectangles. There is a central lamp in the middle of the ceiling that
illuminates the room and the blinds keep the rest of the light out. My dorm room is my home away
from home. The room represents the collection of all the objects I thought important enough to bring
with me to college so in a way it is me. Having to limit myself to only taking a certain amount of
things from my home forces me to distill my priorities and interests. I have to figure out what my
favorite shirts are, my favorite books, what decorations look the best, what color I want my sheets
to be. In a way, I am choosing the traits that I want to bring with myself to college. My room is the
combination of my chosen traits, building into my college identity. Because of my familiarity with

Descriptive Essay About A Festival
My excitement was almost palpable as I drove past Lake Okeechobee, watching sunlight bounce
reflectively off the massive body of water. My 6 best friends and I were moments away from
entering into the majestic festival land. Entering the festival grounds, we where bursting with
excitement and energy, partly because we were sitting still in a cramped car for 2 hours. The car
was moving only several inches per minute, but as the car took covered more territory, so did my
eagerness. There were only a couple of feet distancing our car from the next; everyone else was as
enthusiastic as I. I saw smiles and excitement and heard electronic music in the background, all
while sitting and waiting in a vehicle. It can to my realization that this was the first time I was
surrounded by a whole spectrum of unique people. Some attendees looked like they had just stepped
out of a Madonna music video, with neon colored clothes and asymmetrical patters; others wore
shorts and a tank top. However, there were two similarities among us: we came to dance to each
beat of the music and we all suffered from the humid, swampy, hot weather.
Although my friends and I wanted to park the car and head straight to the festival, we had some
housekeeping to do. Three tents and a camp area later, we were ready to start dancing to the
electronic music and enjoying our three day festival weekend. The summer heat was unbearable, as
the humidity engulfed the air and the sunrays kept reluctantly burning our

Descriptive Essay About A Garden
Garden Box The sun is shining bright over the rows of newly sprouted vegetables and fruits.
Bright red strawberries peak out from under dark green leaves. The thin leaves of the corn plants
rustle in the breeze. A wooden basket rests at my feet identical to the one in my grandmothers
hands. We slowly fill them with fresh strawberries and small cucumbers.I'm in my favorite place
my grandmother's garden. Stretching out with rows and rows of all kinds of fruits and
vegetables that she grows for cooking into fresh pies, canning into pickles, and pressing into
some of the best raspberry jam in the world, I help gather the harvest. Every summer I spend two
weeks up north with my grandparents. I fish and swim but my absolute favorite thing for as long
as I can remember is spending long hours in the garden with my grandma. It was in her garden
that I learned the perfect size cucumber to make pickles and how to find raspberries hidden deep
in the thorny bushes without scratching myself. I will always remember and cherish time spent
in my grandmothers garden. It's those memories that prompted me to create my own garden
when I turned sixteen. I had asked my parents to help me plant a garden at our house every summer
for as long as I can remember but their answer had always been no. It was too much work, no one
was home to take care of a garden their lists of reasons went on and on every year. It was during my

Descriptive Essay About Beauty
I think our minds are obsessed with beauty. We envy those we cannot be. We strive to have this
picture perfect life, or something close to it. When I was younger, I was never out going or the kid
that talked all the time. That just wasn't me. I never thought of myself as beautiful. I thought I was
pretty, but in my mind, to be truly beautiful, one must possess other characteristics beyond the
physical realm. To be exquisite, perfectly, and wholeheartedly beautiful, one must be: independent,
self–confident, and happy. I didn't see this in myself at the time, but how could I? I was still in
elementary school. There is one woman, however, who I considered being one of the most beautiful
beings. She is partially the reason I am the person I am...show more content...
I hated shopping. But this lady with her textured turtleneck always mesmerized me with how
powerfully she presented herself. She was always so polished and prim. I never remember a
Sunday where she looked like the overworked mother, or the stress ridden woman trying to keep
her life together. No, she was quite the opposite. She was in complete control of her life.
Years passed by, I no longer saw any of her kids. Her husband, who was quite obviously older than
her, began to deteriorate. He had surgery that left him unable to walk without assistance. She was
always there, guiding him, smiling at him, helping him into the car. She maintained the same
calm, loving style towards him, before and after. At this point, I was quite a bit older. I
understood death. I could tell just by looking at him, that his time was coming to an end; anyone
could. But she paid no attention to that. She appeared older than before. Not in sense that she was
dying, but she seemed like she had accomplished whatever she wanted in life. She seemed serene,
they both did. It was in those last few months they had together that I saw a couple truly in love.
They were happy. I've never seen anything like that before. I don't think that people genuinely
understand their feelings for a person until they've lived without him or her or they know that that
time is coming. She never once showed any sadness or sorrow. She remained as caring and as gentle
as ever.
He did eventually pass. She

Three Descriptive Research Methods Essay
One of of three methods used for descriptive research is the case study. The case study method is
the oldest form of research used in psychology today. To help you better understand what case
studies are I would recommend you think of an individual person case. Case study is when
someone studies one person to explain things that happen for all of us. Basically applying the
outcome to all people ; one representing all. Case studies will describe your behavior. In present
day we have noticed that although the individual cases may be accurate, it only applies to that one
person. There will always be a conflict of interest because what may happen to one person does not
necessarily happen to the next. For example you may say that after...show more content...
This type of research gathers information from a large group of people. It will be not go into depth
as much as the case study might and involves many cases. As an example think of making you own
survey and distributing it out to various amounts of people, gathering the information and
conducting you hypothesis. We are constantly asked to participate in surveys whether its an
internet advertisement or a class handout from the college you attend. When asking you question
you have to be careful as to how you word the question. The words you choose may influence a
participant to lean toward a certain side. You may sound biased toward one issue which will effect
you survey and hypothesis. Using random sampling allows researcher to have a fair representation
of the subjects under study. Every person has an equal chance of participating. I would use this
method with very larger groups of people. Ex. school. The last from of research would be naturalistic
observation. Basically watching and recording the behavior of different subjects in the natural
environment.Much of the reality shows today could be considered a form of naturalistic observation.
Pending on how much the program actually interferes with the subject , they allow for an interesting
hypothesis. This research will describe the behavior of an subject. Now that we have the information
from the research we can evaluate the differences and similarities. When the research reveals that one

Descriptive Essay On A Morning
Mornings just great. Us early birds have the gift of watching the world around us come back to
life after being so tired. We all know most people don't like mornings simply because it interrupts
sleep. Yeah, something you can do when you're dead. I turned to the window delighted to see a
bright gray sky; just one giant cloud covering that asshole of a sun so it can't burn my skin and
give me cancer. Sure, your idea of a beautiful day might include blue skies and fairies, but I never
asked you. Today was.... Friday. Nothing special going on, so I'd have the regular classes.
I threw on a black t–shirt and skinny jeans that were slung over my crappy desk chair and ran my
fingers through my hair to work out any rats while making my way through a dim hallway to the
kitchen. My house is just one big dim hallway with rooms.
"Hey." My mom was already at work in the kitchen as always. She had the same dazed expression on
her face as she did every morning as she did her tedious mom–chores. Every day she had to wash
dishes, do laundry, cook food, pick up stuff around the house, etc.
She set down a plate with a small cinnamon roll drenched in white icing out on the table:"Here, eat
this before you leave."
"Nah."
"You need to eat something for breakfast, it's not good to skip meals." She nagged.
"Says who?"
"Says me. I read somewhere about it; they did quite a few studies on it."
"Hn, Bye." The screen door slammed shut before my mother could finish her pointless lecture. I
wasn't going to be late for school because of a cinnamon roll.
Most kids get their parents to drive them nowadays, but walking is a perfect opportunity for some
alone–time. People can just come find and interrupt my reveries even in my own home, but when I
walk, I'm traveling, and no one's going to try and catch up to me. Just thoughts, music, and burly
trees looming over cracked sidewalks. For the most part, it's a peaceful yet uneventful journey.
Other than dogs occasionally carrying on or people leaving early for work, there are almost no
interruptions.
Chg–chg–chg–chg. I grinned at the sound of a train beginning to rumble across rickety, old railroad
tracks. Somehow, I couldn't help but smile during moments like these. Soon the train

Descriptive Essay About Spring
Spring is such a wonderful and joyful season. The air begins to warm, and the temperature rises
slowly. Not only that, but the days seem to be getting longer as well. As the snow begins to melt in
northern America, the lovely flowers begin to bud and the flies begin to come out. The tree buds
starts greening and preparing itself to grow. The air smells different as opposed to winter, it smells
fresh and alive. Spring wraps up winter, and leads on to the hot and humid season called summer.
Spring is the season that prepares itself for the next season, as forestry is starting to grow and
thrive. The animal kingdom also uses spring to mate. The bears that were hibernating no longer have
to hibernate. The smell of freshly cut grass also goes through the warm spring air.
The grouchy people of winter also start to become happy again. Most people dislike winter as it
cold and the driving condition are not great. However in spring, everything is having life, or
coming back to life; as well as their spirits. Spring is finally the time where people can finally eat
outside, open up the window to let fresh air in. Nothing is better than seeing the neon green trees
and grass shining through the low amounts of snow that might still be left behind by Mother Nature.
The farming trade also begins in spring; the farmers begin to plant their vegetables so they can
harvest them when the time is right. Spring also has a very nice holiday, Easter. Families gather at
each other's houses and

Descriptive Essay About Autumn
Misty dew covers the entire surface of the field. The yellowing corn stalks stand erect and proud
until my grandpas tractor comes to end their growth. Autumn slowly weaves its way in and leaves
a stain of brilliant color in its wake. Not everyone enjoys such colors, but when you take a second
to step outside your doorstep, and look at all the wonders that surround you, you'd be surprised at
how marvelous the world can truly be. To me, Autumn is a time for relishing in the colors. Soaking
in the oranges and reds while sitting by a warm fire. It's a time for remembering that everything
does end, but it does not have to end in the dreadful way we think it will. Autumn is a time for the
closeness of others to keep out the chill of the morning and the starry–eyed darkness of the night.
The colors are astonishing. No longer does green dwell the trees. It seems the entire world is on
fire. The bright yellow has mingled with the orange to create small flames, flickering from the
branches of trees. They fall to the ground and ignite the earth. It has been said before that fire is
pure and cleans everything it touches. It takes something broken and dead and gives it one last
spurt of beauty. One last goodbye before it leaves forever. The bed of the fire is a deep blue, so
searing it burns any who come near. The heat makes my eyes water and stings my uncovered face.
I want to get as close as possible. To see the embers be swept with the glorious reds and royal blues.
The heat is

Descriptive Essay On A Trip
The art studies–at–large trip has been a once in a lifetime trip. From a twenty–four hour plane trip
with a stop in Chicago and time zone change, it has been an exhausting yet enjoyable time running
around with my classmates in the airport. Being in a different country and experiencing a new
culture first hand was astonishing and gave me a new outlook of the beauties in the world. From
Montone, Florence, Venice, andRome I had the ultimate trip in Italy. The food, language, and
culture were different from what I was used to but it was worth the experience. I was not fond of
drinking wine with every dinner though the wine was delicious. I had the best pastas, tiramisus,
and coffees while I was in Italy. The art was beautiful; it was breathtaking to see how many free
artworks was there for the public. After being in Italy for about a month I can see why people are
attracted and want to live in Italy. Montone is a beautiful, peaceful, and friendly town. I enjoyed
the walk to town, the covenant, Aries CafГ©, the tavern restaurant, and the town's people. I had
the best cappuccino and coffee at Aries and I loved every dish I ate at the tavern restaurant. The
view from the covenant was beautiful and works perfectly for a painting. Getting around town was
easy with everyone being so nice and helpful. The piazza was a great place to hang out because of
friendly the environment was and it was the main spot in town where everyone stayed. Getting a
chance to draw Italy's million

In fact, nature appears in its best form. It provides us with all kinds of pleasure.
Other things that I also love about spring are those smells that are widespread in nature. The air is
fresh and full of pleasant aromas of different flowers. When I am walking in the fields or any other
place during spring time, my noses catch a mixture of smells that really increases my strong love for
nature.
I will now say I am absolutely calm when I am listening, feeling, smelling, and looking at the spring
around me. Spring is my favourite season, and nature when it is spring is relaxing and comfortable.
The earth wears a green dress. Again it comes to life.

Descriptive Essay Trip
One of the greatest ways to learn about the world around us is to take a trip to visit new places.
This past summer, I flew from my home in Florida to take a road trip with my aunt from Roanoke,
Virginia. We went to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was an amazing experience to be able to visit the
place where my family originated.
Our trip started in Roanoke where my aunt and I made our way to Canada driving through the
night. Unfortunately, since it was dark, I was unable to see anything. I did, however, get to have
time to talk with my aunt and get to know her a little better. After a long eleven hour drive, we
finally made it to our Canadian destination. After resting a few hours at another aunt's house in
Milton, I was ready to become tourist for a few days. My first stop was Niagara Falls just north of
the Canadian border.
Niagara Falls is the largest waterfall by volume in North America; and is one of the largest tourist
attractions. Even though it was extremely crowded making viewing difficult; the experience was
worth the inconvenience. I was able to walk around and see some of the area surrounding the
falls. The town of Niagara has great places to shop, as well as, wonderful restaurants. I enjoyed
spending time with both of my aunts and one uncle. On the way back to my aunt's house we
stopped off at my favorite restaurant, Swiss Chalet. This franchise is only in Canada, which makes
it a must stop place for my family and I to eat. In my opinion, their chicken and

Descriptive Essay About Animals
JADE My entire life I've always held a special place in my heart for animals. There's just
something about them that makes my usual cold stone exterior melt. Through the course of my life
I've owned several different kinds of pets, majority of which were given away. After owning all
these animals I can say without a doubt I am definitively a cat person. Each time I've lost an animal
it hurt considerably but none of which hurt as much as when I had to give up my cat Jade.
Adopting Jade was a very pivotal point in my life. I had been begging for a pet for months, I'm
talking on my knees pleading with tears in my eyes. I was looking for something to fill the
domestic animal sized void in my heart that was made when they gave my dog Pierce away
because he was "too high maintenance". I was also just thinking about how great it had been
owning our first cat Boots who they gave away because he wasn't very nice to any member of our
family but me. Finally I wore my aunt down enough to where she agreed to take me to the animal
shelter to "look and see". I had never been in an animal shelter before so I had no idea what to
expect when we arrived. It was a reasonably sized building, kind of reminding of a daycare center
for little kids. Literally every dog in the building started barking when we walked in and honestly it
broke my heart that so many of them were without homes. One of the people who worked there
showed us to the first room on our right, one of the rooms

Descriptive Essay About My Village
Wherever I am, I find it hard to resist the tempting call of my hometown. My hometown is a small
village located in Shandong province. There are about two thousand people in the village. Small as
it is, it's a very beautiful place and has its own folk culture. The weather is warm in winter and cool
in summer. It's a good place for tourism.
The most attractions in the village are the river around my hometown and the green hills opposite
the river. On the hills there are large tea plantations and fruit trees. The river, in which there are all
kinds of big and smooth cobbles, flows gurgling in four seasons, with groups of fish and shrimps
playing in the water. When spring was coming, the fields look like a green carpet, and the
willows by the river are putting forth a lot of tender branches. With breeze blowing, the long thin
branches gently brush the cool and refreshing water; there are groups of ducks having fun in the
river. Spring is also a season of sowing. When the parents are working in the field, the child are
playing all kinds of games near the river, such as swing, eagle catches chicken, seesaw and so on.
Summer follows spring. The children sit on the large stones in the river, where they pat the water
and make splashes. The sound of water, and the noise of the children's chatting and laughing are
mixed together. The birds in the woods are unwilling to be lonely, singing and dancing with joy. The
old people sat under the big trees talking about their life

Descriptive Essay On A Messy College Dorm Room

  • 1. Descriptive Essay On Dystopia Dystopian Setting The city that once had homed thousands and been the most economically successful country ever, was now a contaminated wasteland. The land looked dry, destroyed and lonely. The morning breeze felt like crying sorrows, and the grey deceitful sky awed down at us. In the deepest corner of despair lies dystopia where hope dies. As someone looks through the eyes of the devil, they see his utopia. Only visible by the dim light of the moon was the great wall. Beyond the wall? No one knew. Stretching away from the wall was a humongous bridge that towered the wall. Standing tall on the bridge was a tower, which had two circles that almost looked like eyes. Those mysterious, creepy and dangerous looking eyes stared down at the city giving away a haunting look. The reek of death hangs in the air throughout the land. Filling the mouths of those who lived in this abandoned land was the taste of burnt garlic. The screams and cries of terror undistinguishable between beast and human fill the ears of the last ones living. The sky, which was lit by the glow of fires, is grey and empty. Decaying bodies and...show more content... As I walked, the air of this haunted, dreadful and sorrowful land had sucked the life out of everything and roared as humanity began to disappear. As I carried on walking, I noticed that the small fraction of light was getting smaller and smaller, until it had been engulfed into a think black ash like smoke. Aggressively, the wind walked past the building with its cruddy feeling, blowing away all signs of life. Deeper and deeper into the land was a burning car door. The fire roared and crackled. The roaring and crackling of the burning car door merged with the aggressive air and created the loudest sounds ever heard on land. Growing darker, the skies made me feel nauseous. The fear of not waking up if a human fell asleep towered Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Experience Essay Filled with excitement and joy I began to fill my suitcase, overloading with clothing that I most likely will not wear. A I finish my exaggerated packing I heard a thumping sound of knocks at the front door. I hurriedly squish everything and make my way to the door only to be greeted by Ely's joyful expression. Once we manage to pack our things in the trunk we head off to the airport. Once at the airport were greeted with our growling tummies ready to devour. We have fifteen minutes before our flight leaves, we quickly rush and get in line to the subway station. When ordering I could see all the available sets of nutritional vegetables. The scent of sweet coffee filled my nostrils from the Starbucks station next to the subway. Once are meals our set we quickly stuff our hungry faces and hear a loud announcement that our flight was to depart in 10 minutes. When seated I tried to manage my tangles hair and off we were to our vacation in Honduras. Once, we reached the end of our flight we were met with the difficulty of finding our bags, once we did we excitedly made our way to the exit. As soon as we stepped outside the scent of good cooked meted melted in our minds. Immediately our attention zoomed into the busy streets overcrowding with people. It was midday around one in the afternoon, the weather was gracious, solemn breeze swept my hair back. First thing we do is head off to the nearest restaurant in our reach. Lavishing the cultural dishes my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Ocean Descriptive Essay I stand at the edge where two worlds collide. The oceans exude power and confindence yet its are the connector to everyone. Here at the ocean, your peace can be found in the middle of this chaotic world. This is where people can lose themselves in the beauty, tranquility and the uncontrollable power of the ocean. I stand on the edge looking forward the ocean seems endless. Some people believe at the horizon there is nothing just a place where the moon, star and the sun hide until they shall return. Scrunching my toes into the damp sand from the high tide. The sand is like rough sandpaper on my bare feet. Whispers of the warm sea breeze as it skips over the lulling waves. The breeze carries the salty aroma that swirls in my nose leaving a feeling of tranquility and safety. Listening to the thundering raspy echo's of the waves as they churn crumbling into whitewash chaos deafening my ears to whatever else is around me. The squawking of the protectors of the ocean as they circle above, master of catching the upward sea breeze drafts. Watching the waves draw in a breath of air and sighing deeply gradually crawling along each grain of sand stretching itself out thin to reach my feet. The ocean breathes in again as the thin layer of water returns into the depths of the unknown. The sun slowly simmers down into the horizon. The ocean reflecting a amber orange painting on its mesmerizing turquoise canvas. The warmth of the air is replaced by chills. The light salt–water laps Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Descriptive Essay : ' The Ghost ' Essay Just then, I noticed a ghost in the distance who was simply staring blankly at the landscape. As I came alongside, the ghost was simply staring at the Spirit; I received the impression that the conversation would soon begin again. Continuing to stare at the spirit, the ghost spoke, "See now, Elphias, this is simply the same discussion we started back in high school. There is nothing new about it and you always thought that there were black and whites. You still haven't changed your mind I see." The spirit smiled and replied, "Yes, it is the same discussion, but I am happy, if you join me, you too can receive this happiness. All that you have to see is that there are absolutes." "But there are no absolutes. We've been over this before. What is good and true for you may not be good and true for me. Your rigidness has not lessened with time. You always failed to embrace the gray; that whole idea of black and white was simply wishful thinking." "Was it truly wishful thinking though? Where you came from, is that not the black and am I not white with the Glory?" The ghost gave a disbelieving chuckle and attempted as best he could a patronizing smile. "It may appear black and white to you because of what you believe, but as for me, I can hardly stand to look at you. How do I know it you are really white?" Where did you just come from? Is not perpetually twilight and rainy? What emotions arise in you in that place?" "Different emotions for different people. No doubt some Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Descriptive Essay Example Descriptive Essay Final The downtown metropolis can be a complex place, and some may need to become accustomed to it. It is Five O' Clock in the afternoon. The sun is starting to drag itself lower, dimming the landscape, leaving a majestic orange on the horizon. The towering structures above leave enormous shadows on the people below. Car horns ring and sirens pulse, as the people make haste towards there destinations, rushing aggressively as if though it is a race. The end of the work day has just began. The craze is unique from anywhere else. An endless flow of people and vehicles seem to liter the area. A man can be seen making his way towards a small parking lot. The parking lot has not been taken care of for some time. Potholes...show more content... Lush, green trees are everywhere. Every house and small business seems to have one or two of them. The car makes it's way down a small street, with old fashioned houses. The car comes to a halt in front of a beautiful tan house. The house feels cozy. The tan painted planks of wood stack up until they reach the charcoal shingles of the rooftop. Two enormous windows are on the front of the house, with fine, white curtains that can be seen hanging from them on the other side. On the left side of a house there is a large chimney, which gives the house a traditional look with it's brown and red bricks. In the front yard of the house there is a smooth, clean concrete walkway to the front door, surrounded by many bushes, and flowers; trimmed perfectly. This house is well kept, and it stands out as a beauty in the neighborhood. The man walks up his paved walkway, and into the house through a large white door, with four small windows on it, and a cross like pattern beneath them. The doors gives of the look as if it is an entryway to heaven. The house is peaceful. Only the birds chirping in the trees can be heard. And as the man enters his house excited children raise there voices, "Daddy Daddy!". This family man is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Examples Of A Descriptive Essay On A Room Contrastive Paragraphs Essay Assingment My dorm room is a rectangular room with beds on the opposite sides. On one side there is room for two closets with long mirrors that are used as doors. Between the two beds on the side opposite the closets are two desks that are covered with papers, water bottles, notebooks and pens. In the midde of the room sits a black flimsy square card table, covered with a stack of dirty plates and a binder. There are posters hung up around the room, a women's division three national championships poster, a periodic table, an american flag, and various photos of friends and family. The walls and ceiling are white and the floor is carpeted, with a matrix of various grey rectangles. There is a central lamp in the middle of the ceiling that illuminates the room and the blinds keep the rest of the light out. My dorm room is my home away from home. The room represents the collection of all the objects I thought important enough to bring with me to college so in a way it is me. Having to limit myself to only taking a certain amount of things from my home forces me to distill my priorities and interests. I have to figure out what my favorite shirts are, my favorite books, what decorations look the best, what color I want my sheets to be. In a way, I am choosing the traits that I want to bring with myself to college. My room is the combination of my chosen traits, building into my college identity. • 7. Descriptive Essay About A Festival My excitement was almost palpable as I drove past Lake Okeechobee, watching sunlight bounce reflectively off the massive body of water. My 6 best friends and I were moments away from entering into the majestic festival land. Entering the festival grounds, we where bursting with excitement and energy, partly because we were sitting still in a cramped car for 2 hours. The car was moving only several inches per minute, but as the car took covered more territory, so did my eagerness. There were only a couple of feet distancing our car from the next; everyone else was as enthusiastic as I. I saw smiles and excitement and heard electronic music in the background, all while sitting and waiting in a vehicle. It can to my realization that this was the first time I was surrounded by a whole spectrum of unique people. Some attendees looked like they had just stepped out of a Madonna music video, with neon colored clothes and asymmetrical patters; others wore shorts and a tank top. However, there were two similarities among us: we came to dance to each beat of the music and we all suffered from the humid, swampy, hot weather. Although my friends and I wanted to park the car and head straight to the festival, we had some housekeeping to do. Three tents and a camp area later, we were ready to start dancing to the electronic music and enjoying our three day festival weekend. The summer heat was unbearable, as the humidity engulfed the air and the sunrays kept reluctantly burning our Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Descriptive Essay About A Garden Garden Box The sun is shining bright over the rows of newly sprouted vegetables and fruits. Bright red strawberries peak out from under dark green leaves. The thin leaves of the corn plants rustle in the breeze. A wooden basket rests at my feet identical to the one in my grandmothers hands. We slowly fill them with fresh strawberries and small cucumbers.I'm in my favorite place my grandmother's garden. Stretching out with rows and rows of all kinds of fruits and vegetables that she grows for cooking into fresh pies, canning into pickles, and pressing into some of the best raspberry jam in the world, I help gather the harvest. Every summer I spend two weeks up north with my grandparents. I fish and swim but my absolute favorite thing for as long as I can remember is spending long hours in the garden with my grandma. It was in her garden that I learned the perfect size cucumber to make pickles and how to find raspberries hidden deep in the thorny bushes without scratching myself. I will always remember and cherish time spent in my grandmothers garden. It's those memories that prompted me to create my own garden when I turned sixteen. I had asked my parents to help me plant a garden at our house every summer for as long as I can remember but their answer had always been no. It was too much work, no one was home to take care of a garden their lists of reasons went on and on every year. It was during my Junior year when I asked my mom if I could plant a garden and instead of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Descriptive Essay About Beauty I think our minds are obsessed with beauty. We envy those we cannot be. We strive to have this picture perfect life, or something close to it. When I was younger, I was never out going or the kid that talked all the time. That just wasn't me. I never thought of myself as beautiful. I thought I was pretty, but in my mind, to be truly beautiful, one must possess other characteristics beyond the physical realm. To be exquisite, perfectly, and wholeheartedly beautiful, one must be: independent, self–confident, and happy. I didn't see this in myself at the time, but how could I? I was still in elementary school. There is one woman, however, who I considered being one of the most beautiful beings. She is partially the reason I am the person I am...show more content... I hated shopping. But this lady with her textured turtleneck always mesmerized me with how powerfully she presented herself. She was always so polished and prim. I never remember a Sunday where she looked like the overworked mother, or the stress ridden woman trying to keep her life together. No, she was quite the opposite. She was in complete control of her life. Years passed by, I no longer saw any of her kids. Her husband, who was quite obviously older than her, began to deteriorate. He had surgery that left him unable to walk without assistance. She was always there, guiding him, smiling at him, helping him into the car. She maintained the same calm, loving style towards him, before and after. At this point, I was quite a bit older. I understood death. I could tell just by looking at him, that his time was coming to an end; anyone could. But she paid no attention to that. She appeared older than before. Not in sense that she was dying, but she seemed like she had accomplished whatever she wanted in life. She seemed serene, they both did. It was in those last few months they had together that I saw a couple truly in love. They were happy. I've never seen anything like that before. I don't think that people genuinely understand their feelings for a person until they've lived without him or her or they know that that time is coming. She never once showed any sadness or sorrow. She remained as caring and as gentle as ever. He did eventually pass. She Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Three Descriptive Research Methods Essay One of of three methods used for descriptive research is the case study. The case study method is the oldest form of research used in psychology today. To help you better understand what case studies are I would recommend you think of an individual person case. Case study is when someone studies one person to explain things that happen for all of us. Basically applying the outcome to all people ; one representing all. Case studies will describe your behavior. In present day we have noticed that although the individual cases may be accurate, it only applies to that one person. There will always be a conflict of interest because what may happen to one person does not necessarily happen to the next. For example you may say that after...show more content... This type of research gathers information from a large group of people. It will be not go into depth as much as the case study might and involves many cases. As an example think of making you own survey and distributing it out to various amounts of people, gathering the information and conducting you hypothesis. We are constantly asked to participate in surveys whether its an internet advertisement or a class handout from the college you attend. When asking you question you have to be careful as to how you word the question. The words you choose may influence a participant to lean toward a certain side. You may sound biased toward one issue which will effect you survey and hypothesis. Using random sampling allows researcher to have a fair representation of the subjects under study. Every person has an equal chance of participating. I would use this method with very larger groups of people. Ex. school. The last from of research would be naturalistic observation. Basically watching and recording the behavior of different subjects in the natural environment.Much of the reality shows today could be considered a form of naturalistic observation. Pending on how much the program actually interferes with the subject , they allow for an interesting hypothesis. This research will describe the behavior of an subject. Now that we have the information from the research we can evaluate the differences and similarities. When the research reveals that one Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Descriptive Essay On A Morning Mornings just great. Us early birds have the gift of watching the world around us come back to life after being so tired. We all know most people don't like mornings simply because it interrupts sleep. Yeah, something you can do when you're dead. I turned to the window delighted to see a bright gray sky; just one giant cloud covering that asshole of a sun so it can't burn my skin and give me cancer. Sure, your idea of a beautiful day might include blue skies and fairies, but I never asked you. Today was.... Friday. Nothing special going on, so I'd have the regular classes. I threw on a black t–shirt and skinny jeans that were slung over my crappy desk chair and ran my fingers through my hair to work out any rats while making my way through a dim hallway to the kitchen. My house is just one big dim hallway with rooms. "Hey." My mom was already at work in the kitchen as always. She had the same dazed expression on her face as she did every morning as she did her tedious mom–chores. Every day she had to wash dishes, do laundry, cook food, pick up stuff around the house, etc. She set down a plate with a small cinnamon roll drenched in white icing out on the table:"Here, eat this before you leave." "Nah." "You need to eat something for breakfast, it's not good to skip meals." She nagged. "Says who?" "Says me. I read somewhere about it; they did quite a few studies on it." "Hn, Bye." The screen door slammed shut before my mother could finish her pointless lecture. I wasn't going to be late for school because of a cinnamon roll. Most kids get their parents to drive them nowadays, but walking is a perfect opportunity for some alone–time. People can just come find and interrupt my reveries even in my own home, but when I walk, I'm traveling, and no one's going to try and catch up to me. Just thoughts, music, and burly trees looming over cracked sidewalks. For the most part, it's a peaceful yet uneventful journey. Other than dogs occasionally carrying on or people leaving early for work, there are almost no interruptions. Chg–chg–chg–chg. I grinned at the sound of a train beginning to rumble across rickety, old railroad tracks. Somehow, I couldn't help but smile during moments like these. Soon the train Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Descriptive Essay About Spring Spring is such a wonderful and joyful season. The air begins to warm, and the temperature rises slowly. Not only that, but the days seem to be getting longer as well. As the snow begins to melt in northern America, the lovely flowers begin to bud and the flies begin to come out. The tree buds starts greening and preparing itself to grow. The air smells different as opposed to winter, it smells fresh and alive. Spring wraps up winter, and leads on to the hot and humid season called summer. Spring is the season that prepares itself for the next season, as forestry is starting to grow and thrive. The animal kingdom also uses spring to mate. The bears that were hibernating no longer have to hibernate. The smell of freshly cut grass also goes through the warm spring air. The grouchy people of winter also start to become happy again. Most people dislike winter as it cold and the driving condition are not great. However in spring, everything is having life, or coming back to life; as well as their spirits. Spring is finally the time where people can finally eat outside, open up the window to let fresh air in. Nothing is better than seeing the neon green trees and grass shining through the low amounts of snow that might still be left behind by Mother Nature. The farming trade also begins in spring; the farmers begin to plant their vegetables so they can harvest them when the time is right. Spring also has a very nice holiday, Easter. Families gather at each other's houses and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Descriptive Essay About Autumn Misty dew covers the entire surface of the field. The yellowing corn stalks stand erect and proud until my grandpas tractor comes to end their growth. Autumn slowly weaves its way in and leaves a stain of brilliant color in its wake. Not everyone enjoys such colors, but when you take a second to step outside your doorstep, and look at all the wonders that surround you, you'd be surprised at how marvelous the world can truly be. To me, Autumn is a time for relishing in the colors. Soaking in the oranges and reds while sitting by a warm fire. It's a time for remembering that everything does end, but it does not have to end in the dreadful way we think it will. Autumn is a time for the closeness of others to keep out the chill of the morning and the starry–eyed darkness of the night. The colors are astonishing. No longer does green dwell the trees. It seems the entire world is on fire. The bright yellow has mingled with the orange to create small flames, flickering from the branches of trees. They fall to the ground and ignite the earth. It has been said before that fire is pure and cleans everything it touches. It takes something broken and dead and gives it one last spurt of beauty. One last goodbye before it leaves forever. The bed of the fire is a deep blue, so searing it burns any who come near. The heat makes my eyes water and stings my uncovered face. I want to get as close as possible. To see the embers be swept with the glorious reds and royal blues. The heat is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Descriptive Essay On A Trip The art studies–at–large trip has been a once in a lifetime trip. From a twenty–four hour plane trip with a stop in Chicago and time zone change, it has been an exhausting yet enjoyable time running around with my classmates in the airport. Being in a different country and experiencing a new culture first hand was astonishing and gave me a new outlook of the beauties in the world. From Montone, Florence, Venice, andRome I had the ultimate trip in Italy. The food, language, and culture were different from what I was used to but it was worth the experience. I was not fond of drinking wine with every dinner though the wine was delicious. I had the best pastas, tiramisus, and coffees while I was in Italy. The art was beautiful; it was breathtaking to see how many free artworks was there for the public. After being in Italy for about a month I can see why people are attracted and want to live in Italy. Montone is a beautiful, peaceful, and friendly town. I enjoyed the walk to town, the covenant, Aries CafГ©, the tavern restaurant, and the town's people. I had the best cappuccino and coffee at Aries and I loved every dish I ate at the tavern restaurant. The view from the covenant was beautiful and works perfectly for a painting. It provides us with all kinds of pleasure. Other things that I also love about spring are those smells that are widespread in nature. The air is fresh and full of pleasant aromas of different flowers. "I can't believe you," she cries, hurls her last insult, and storms away, quickly followed by a small group of girls. They spend the rest of the evening throwing dirty looks at the boys, none of whom seem to care. Spinning faster and faster, the waltzer's occupants scream hysterically. "The louder you scream, the faster we go," an impersonal voice claims on the intercom. As the ride explodes with noise, the operator yawns and throws a lever. Outside his soundproof hut the ride accelerates, then, climax over, it slows and stops. The controller stumbles out of the box and lets the flushed people off of the ride. Some go straight to the back of the queue, others teeter off, stumbling over their own feet. Gritting his teeth, a man in the car park presses the accelerator to the floor, but to no avail. The grass is unrecognisable under all of the mud that has been churned up by the cars that have been coming and going all day. His face reddens as the wheels spin, spraying mud on to a shiny red Ferrari that someone was unsuspecting enough to bring. People are pointing and laughing and the owner of the Ferrari is shouting. Finally, someone is helpful enough to push him on his way and he leaves at top speed, without even bothering to say thank you. On the rollercoaster, a young girl screams, while her older brother looks almost ready to fall asleep. Her best friend in the seat behind is looking slightly green and is very much ready to go home. The little girl whoops even louder Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Descriptive Essay Trip One of the greatest ways to learn about the world around us is to take a trip to visit new places. This past summer, I flew from my home in Florida to take a road trip with my aunt from Roanoke, Virginia. We went to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was an amazing experience to be able to visit the place where my family originated. Our trip started in Roanoke where my aunt and I made our way to Canada driving through the night. Unfortunately, since it was dark, I was unable to see anything. I did, however, get to have time to talk with my aunt and get to know her a little better. After a long eleven hour drive, we finally made it to our Canadian destination. After resting a few hours at another aunt's house in Milton, I was ready to become tourist for a few days. My first stop was Niagara Falls just north of the Canadian border. Niagara Falls is the largest waterfall by volume in North America; and is one of the largest tourist attractions. Even though it was extremely crowded making viewing difficult; the experience was worth the inconvenience. I was able to walk around and see some of the area surrounding the falls. The town of Niagara has great places to shop, as well as, wonderful restaurants. I enjoyed spending time with both of my aunts and one uncle. On the way back to my aunt's house we stopped off at my favorite restaurant, Swiss Chalet. This franchise is only in Canada, which makes it a must stop place for my family and I to eat. In my opinion, their chicken and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Descriptive Essay About Animals JADE My entire life I've always held a special place in my heart for animals. There's just something about them that makes my usual cold stone exterior melt. Through the course of my life I've owned several different kinds of pets, majority of which were given away. After owning all these animals I can say without a doubt I am definitively a cat person. Each time I've lost an animal it hurt considerably but none of which hurt as much as when I had to give up my cat Jade. Adopting Jade was a very pivotal point in my life. I had been begging for a pet for months, I'm talking on my knees pleading with tears in my eyes. I was looking for something to fill the domestic animal sized void in my heart that was made when they gave my dog Pierce away because he was "too high maintenance". I was also just thinking about how great it had been owning our first cat Boots who they gave away because he wasn't very nice to any member of our family but me. Finally I wore my aunt down enough to where she agreed to take me to the animal shelter to "look and see". I had never been in an animal shelter before so I had no idea what to expect when we arrived. It was a reasonably sized building, kind of reminding of a daycare center for little kids. Literally every dog in the building started barking when we walked in and honestly it broke my heart that so many of them were without homes. One of the people who worked there showed us to the first room on our right, one of the rooms Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Descriptive Essay About My Village Wherever I am, I find it hard to resist the tempting call of my hometown. My hometown is a small village located in Shandong province. There are about two thousand people in the village. Small as it is, it's a very beautiful place and has its own folk culture. The weather is warm in winter and cool in summer. It's a good place for tourism. The most attractions in the village are the river around my hometown and the green hills opposite the river. On the hills there are large tea plantations and fruit trees. The river, in which there are all kinds of big and smooth cobbles, flows gurgling in four seasons, with groups of fish and shrimps playing in the water. When spring was coming, the fields look like a green carpet, and the willows by the river are putting forth a lot of tender branches. With breeze blowing, the long thin branches gently brush the cool and refreshing water; there are groups of ducks having fun in the river. Spring is also a season of sowing. When the parents are working in the field, the child are playing all kinds of games near the river, such as swing, eagle catches chicken, seesaw and so on. Summer follows spring. The children sit on the large stones in the river, where they pat the water and make splashes. The sound of water, and the noise of the children's chatting and laughing are mixed together. The birds in the woods are unwilling to be lonely, singing and dancing with joy. The old people sat under the big trees talking about their life Get more content on HelpWriting.net
