How is water transported from the roots throughout plants?
Though plants absorb some water through their leaves, most rely on a steady flow of nutrients from
the root for nourishment. Each species has a unique twist on the process, but the basics are nearly
universal.EntryA plant root is surrounded by a protective layer called an epidermis. At the center of
the root is a hollow space called the stele. Vascular rays connect the epidermis to the stele,
