4. Cell part’s functions:
Nucleus- holds the DNA, which dictates which proteins the cell produces
Nucleolus- assembles the ribosomes
Nuclear Membrane-regulates the in and out movement of substances in a cell especially between the nucleus and they
cytoplasm
Chromatin/Chromosome- carries genetic information in the form of genes
Cell wall- protects the cell from injury
Cell/Plasma Membrane- controls what molecules pass in and go out of the cell
Cytoplasm- maintains the internal pressure of the cell, ensuring that it doesn’t shrink
Mitochondria- produces ATP, which fuels most of the action in the cell
Lysosome- breaks down waste and detoxifies poisons to clean up the cell
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum- transports proteins
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum- packages proteins for transport, sythensizes membrane phosolipids, and releases
calcium
Ribosomes- follows instructions from the nucleus and creates proteins that the cell needs.
Golgi Apparatus- groups items (lipids and proteins) and packages them into vesicles
Cytoskeleton- provides the cell with structure and function

6. Ham: was cut into a circular shape and used as the nucleus. We used ham
because the ham is bigger than the pepperoni (nucleolus) and ham is a
common topping on pizza.
Ham Skin: was the nuclear membrane. It was already on the ham so it was
a good idea to use the ham as the nucleus. The ham skin protects the ham
just like a nuclear membrane would protect the nucleus.
Pepperoni: was used as the nucleolus because it is round and smaller than
what the ham was.
Onion: cut into slivers and used as the Golgi Apparatus because it
represents the shape.
Sauce: was used as the cytoplasm because it covered most of the “cell”
and held all the other cell parts inside.
Bacon: used as rough and smooth endoplasmic reticulum. Was used
because bacon represents the shape and is a good topping to be put on a
pizza. The rough endoplasmic reticulum had the cheese on it (ribosomes).
7. • Mushrooms- we used mushrooms as the
lysosomes, because they were the right size
and looked a lot like the lysosomes.
• Herbs in sauce- we used Herbs in sauce as our
chromatin, because it looked like the
chromatin in a animal cell.
• Cheese- we used cheese as our Ribosomes,
because they represented the Ribosomes the
most.
8. Crust- the crust was used as the cell membrane
because it was the outer most layer of the pizza,
which is where the cell membrane is located.
Pepper- the pepper was used as the
mitochondria because it was the right size and it
looked the most like the mitochondria
Bacon with cheese- the bacon and cheese was
used as the rough endoplasmic reticulum
because it has the most relatable features.
