Quarter Report
Football fever is alive and well on the tropical island of Phuket. With
its sunny weather and beautiful tropical background it has become an
amazing backdrop for what is the most popular and competitive youth
sport on the island.
With the formation of PISAC (Phuket International Schools Athletics
Committee) the international schools have worked hard to create
opportunities and competitive platforms for tomorrow’s superstars.
With this goal in mind we have formed QSI Tigers F.C, a football club
based around sportsmanship, technical and physical football
foundations and QSI’s strong success orientations to create a well-
rounded coaching environment for our players.
The club has opened its doors to participants outside of the QSI
student body and now supports 26 members at a senior level from
three schools and 13 members at our junior Tiger Cubs level.
The senior boys and girls train twice a week for two hours at Football
Republics’ state of the art facilities. Training sessions comprise of
technical and fitness drills using cutting edge coaching strategies and
a plethora of assisting equipment. The players practice skills drills,
speed, agility and quickness and in match competition with a strong
emphasis on community and sportsmanship.
The Tiger Cubs program is new and after just its first month we have
13 members and are growing. The Tiger Cubs are aged between 6 and
11 years old and train on Sunday mornings in fun mini games,
foundation football and the QSI community mantra with a strong
2. emphasis on success orientations. The Tiger Cubs motto is “Friends,
Fun and Football” with an emphasis in that order. We have enjoyed a
lot of support from our parents as well as the surrounding community
who have players participating.
Tigers FC have also built a strong interactive media presence with
Facebook pages for both the Tigers and the Cubs as well as the
imminent launch of a club website. We have enjoyed interacting with
our players and supporters and look forward to the continued growth
of what is becoming a very successful program.
