GRAPHENE RESEARCH@ ISOF

Graphene = a single layer of carbon atoms, arranged in
honeycomb lattice, forming a perfect, completely aromatic
                                network.

                                • Highly stable
                                • Very good mechanical properties
                                • High thermal and electrical conductivity
                                • Excellent stability in air.

The nanochemistry group at ISOF works on the
production of graphene by chemical exfoliation, its
                                chemical functionalization through covalent or
supramolecular interactions, and its characterization at
                                nanometric scale.

GRAPHENE OXIDE

   • Can be produced in large scale.

   • Highly soluble in water and in some organic
   solvents.

   • Present in solution as monoatomic single sheets.

   • Sheet size can be tuned from 1 um to 100 um.

   • Can be chemically functionalized.

  • 1.
  • 2. GRAPHENE RESEARCH@ ISOF Graphene = a single layer of carbon atoms, arranged in honeycomb lattice, forming a perfect, completely aromatic network. • Highly stable • Very good mechanical properties • High thermal and electrical conductivity • Excellent stability in air. The nanochemistry group at ISOF works on the production of graphene by chemical exfoliation, its chemical functionalization through covalent or supramolecular interactions, and its characterization at nanometric scale. R2B, BOLOGNA, 8-9 GIUGNO 2011
  • 3. GRAPHENE OXIDE • Can be produced in large scale. • Highly soluble in water and in some organic solvents. • Present in solution as monoatomic single sheets. • Sheet size can be tuned from 1 um to 100 um. • Can be chemically functionalized. R2B, BOLOGNA, 8-9 GIUGNO 2011
