This document provides information about an assessment task for an Understanding and Managing Diversity course. Students are required to complete a video presentation individually where they: 1) Identify an organization in the tourism/hospitality sector and discuss its approach to managing diversity amongst employees and customers, 2) Review any challenges the organization faces and consider the impact on its business, and 3) Provide recommendations to improve the organization's diversity practices. The presentation should be 15-20 slides and last 8-10 minutes. It will be evaluated based on discussion of relevant diversity issues, investigation of the organization's approach, and recommendations provided.

Task Description
This assignment is allocated to students in the second half of
the course. By this stage, a number of areas of diversity have
been explored, and students will have completed their induvial
Essay/Report. Thus, it is expected that students understanding
of diversity will now be reasonably well-formed.
This task requires students to work on their own in exploring
the given business pertained to hospitality and tourism. Students
can bring out their unique perspective and understanding in
considering the approach of the company.
Students will identify or allocated an organisation operating
broadly in the tourism and hospitality sector. An organisation
will be allocated on the basis that it has some exciting diversity
challenges to explore. You will research and review this
organisation in terms of its approach to manage the key
elements of diversity amongst both its workforce and
clients/customer base. Review the difficulties and challenges
faced by this organisation in terms of diversity and consider
what impact this had had on the business. Explore what extent
you would consider this organisation to be successful in dealing
with diversity and provide recommendations on how the
organisation’s approach to diversity should be improved.
3. You will prepare a PowerPoint presentation to address the
questions above, including a review of the organisation and the
diversity concepts that are relevant. In addition, you need to
research the organisation and report on the types of diversity
issues they may have both from an employee and
customer/client perspective.

Most work environments require teamwork to develop and
present information and findings to others, whether within or
outside their company.
With this in mind, this task requires students to work
individually and present their findings in a compelling way to
the benefit of other students in the class. Students then can
learn from each other and explore other businesses and their
approach to diversity. Part of this presentation involves being
4. able to successfully and effectively engage the audience, make
the information interesting and believable and use presentation
skills to prepare and communicate information.

10. PART 3 B: Forum Topic
The tutorial teacher will allocate the group members. Each
group consists of 4 members. This group need to participate in
the Forum Discussions on the topics presented by individual
