1. Royal Rajasthan on Wheels
Royal Rajasthan on Wheels was introduced by the Indian Railways and RTDC to
offer a glimpse into this bygone era of romance, opulence and chivalry when
various maharajas ruled their tiny kingdoms which were later merged to form
present Rajasthan.
Red carpet welcomes at each destinations with bands playing royal welcome tunes,
rides on decorated elephants and camels, sun downer cocktails in sand dunes and
high teas and dining at some forts and palaces recreates the romance of the days of
maharajas.

3. History
Following the resounding success of Palace on Wheels, Rajasthan Tourism
Development Corporation in collaboration with Indian Railways launched Royal
Rajasthan on Wheels that embarked on its maiden voyage on 11th of January 2009.
The train is specially targeted to cater to the premium segment of travelers arriving
in India.
Designed to fuse the ethnic with the modern, this train chugs across erstwhile
princely states of Rajasthan along with a selection of heritage destinations
including Jodhpur, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Sawai Madhopur and Jaipur in Rajasthan
along with temples of Khajuraho, sacred Ghats of Varanasi and last but not the
least, the city of Taj, Agra.
COACHES
Each of the 13 luxury train cabins of the train has an amazing décor and is adorned
with contemporary services and amenities such as channel music, attached
bathroom with plush toiletries, in-room safe, Wi-fi connectivity, temperature
control remote, upholstery and more.
The salons of the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels have been segregated into Bravura
Suites and Extraordinary Suites. As the passenger capacity is limited, you can
enjoy a comfortable stay while on-board. The train has a common lounge where
the guests can interact with each other. This lounge also has Wi-fi connectivity.
There is also a Spa aboard the train where the guests can relax their tired senses.

5. ITINERARY
Day 1- Delhi
The journey commences from Safdarjung Railway Station, New Delhi. This capital
city of India has maintained harmony between old-world charm and vogue. While
there are narrow streets of Chandni Chowk, there also are immense and
immaculate luxury hotels and spa in several regions of the city. Dinner is to be
served onboard, as the train departs for Jodhpur.
Day 2- Jodhpur
You reach Jodhpur on the second day of the tour. This city of Rajasthan is located
on the Thar Desert, which led to its christening as “Sun City”, owing to the gentle
sheen of sand as the sun goes down or rises up.
By 9 A.M guests leave sightseeing trip to Jaswant Thada, Mehrangarh Fort and
Ummaid Bhavan; followed by shopping session in Jodhpur Market. Have lunch at
a five-star palace hotel, after which you return to the comforts of the luxury train.
Dinner and overnight stay onboard.
Day 3- Udaipur/ Chittorgarh
Prepare to get captivated by the City of Lakes, Udaipur. By 7 A.M you reach
Udaipur and you are served breakfast onboard. Later, proceed for sightseeing trip
6. to Saheliyon ki Bari and City Palace; followed by a boat-ride in Lake Pichola.
Have your lunch at a five-star palace hotel. Return to the comforts of your luxury
train, as it leaves for the next destination, Chittorgarh.
As the train reaches Chittorgarh, proceed to visit the star attraction of the city
Chittorgarh Fort. The fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is counted as one
of India’s largest forts. In the evening, relax in a restaurant for hi-tea; followed by
light and sound show.
Return to the train. Dinner is served onboard, as the train departs for Sawai
Madhopur. Stay overnight in Royal Rajasthan on Wheels.
Day 4- Sawai Madhopur/ Jaipur
The train reaches Sawai Madhopur early in the morning and guests proceed for
jungle safari in Ranthambore National Park, which is one of the biggest national
parks in India especially known for its population of tigers. Later, return to your
train for breakfast, as it departs for Jaipur.
On reaching Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, proceed for sightseeing tour to Amer
Fort. The fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site, along with other selective Hill
Forts of Rajasthan. Have your lunch at Amer Café and leave for shopping in local
markets of Jaipur. Afterwards, visit Jantar Mantar and City Palace and return to the
train for tea and refreshments.
For dinner, disembark the train for a hotel. Enjoy scrumptious food accompanied
with cultural program. Return to the train as it departs for Khajuraho. Overnight
stay in train.
Day 5- Khajuraho
Breakfast is served onboard as the train reaches Khajuraho in a few hours. The
Group of Monuments of Khajuraho is a UNESCO World Heritage, flaunting
artistry and belief of yesteryears. As the train stations, proceed to explore the
ancient temples of Khajuraho (Western Group of Temples). Have your lunch at a
7. five-star palace hotel. After this, get ready to explore Southern Group of Khajuraho
Temples.
Return to the comforts of Rajasthan on Wheels for tea and refreshments. Enjoy
light and show at 6 P.M. The train leaves for Varanasi tonight. Dinner and
overnight stay onboard.
Day 6- Varanasi
The train arrives in Varanasi early in the morning and guests depart for boat ride
and to explore the city. Varanasi is one of India’s holiest cities of India, located on
the banks of Holy River, Ganga/Ganges. Return to the train for breakfast and leave
for Sarnath by road. The city is a sacred pilgrimage spot for the followers of
Buddhism, as Gautam Buddha gave his first sermon here after attaining
enlightenment.
Have lunch in a city hotel and return to the train for relaxation. Again, in the
evening, leave for visiting Varanasi Ghats and shopping in local markets. Enjoy
soulful aarti from the banks of Ganga and then again board the train.
Dinner is served on board as the train departs for Agra. Overnight stay onboard.
Day 7- Agra
The train arrives in Agra, The City of Taj, on the seventh day of the tour. This city
is home to spectacular architectural marvels, like the Taj Mahal, Itmad-ud-daulah
Tomb and many others. Agra also happens to be a part of the Golden Triangle
Circuit of India, a tour preferred mainly by foreign travelers.
Breakfast is served onboard, after which the guests proceed for the city tour. Lunch
is held at a five star hotel; followed by exploration of Taj Mahal. This white-
marble mausoleum is an epitome of true love and precision of architecture. It isn’t
merely a UNESCO World Heritage Site but also the Seventh Wonder of the
World. Enjoy the light and sound show and return to the train. Return to the train
as dinner is served onboard and it leaves for Delhi.
Day 8- Delhi
8. The train reaches Safdarjung Railway station at 4 A.M. Breakfast is served
onboard, followed by checkout and farewell.
Note:
50% of fare for children between 5 years and 12 years of age.
10% of fare for infant upto 5 years of age.
Service Tax @3.50% and Commercial tax US $15.00 per person extra as
applicable.
10% surcharge is applicable during Christmas and New Year eve.
Inclusions
The tariff includes cost of travel and accomodation, conducted sightseeing tours,
catering (morning tea, breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner), entrance fee at
monuments, palaces, parks, and cultural programs.
Exclusions
The Royal Rajasthan on Wheels fares does not include liquor, video camera fees,
laundry, tips, phone calls other item of personal nature.
