Next to family is school-based home away from home – the library. Ferguson (2008) concluded that in this day of Google being seen as the font of all knowledge that libraries need to change, to become more welcoming, to become more like home if they are to retain their position as the best place on campus to study.

This excites library tourism & hospitality enthusiasts to strongly vouch for the use of and offer five A’s
of tourism in libraries – arrival, access, accommodations, attractions, and activities (Gordon,
2013; Lim, 2008).
Arrival, the parable of the Good Samaritan has always been one best classic example libraries
and librarians may follow or think about Madonna and child. Either is a representation of olden days’

Access, being privileged to crowd oneself with most recently purchased reads while in one
hand is a “re-closable, spill-proof, plastic container” for some drink provides every staff person a potential
winsome battle. Moreover and having been spoon-fed with e-resources through e-mails has somewhat

Accommodations, coffee shop feel for library spaces is a treat among our library patrons and
delights each not only to while the time away with a book for the month but also with a camera to experiment,
explore and practice for a PhotoMe potential library contest entry. Superb daylight while having some
box study on the floor and spreading out can promise spontaneous learning among our library guests.

Attractions, extra inviting atmosphere inside and outside seen through library windows is an
opportunity to let everyone feel connected. Featured donations in murals, for example, brings in and sends
out potential spectators to enjoy what is displayed at hand. If done regularly (a year-long and series of
attractions), marketed or publicized well and integrated in the strategic plan, surely, will result to high-impact
staff persons who are armed with its own library tourism and hospitality. Additional reading: Library Stars

Activities, refers to action with available activity floors for creativity in the library building.
Whatever type of a library, with or without space or venue, having felt the privileged to engage and make
