Electricity is a flow of electrons from an area of high electron excess to low electron content. It is formed when energy causes electrons to dislodge from atoms, creating positive and negative ions. There are two types of electricity: static electricity which occurs when objects are rubbed together and electrons move between their surfaces, and dynamic electricity which is moving electrons that create an electric current. Sources of electricity include friction, chemical reactions like those in batteries, and other processes that cause the movement or imbalance of electrons in materials.
